this isn't the illinois lottery. this is running a basketball team. giving up most of our quality assets for LMA is taking the super long-shot that all our numbers come up. i'll save my money, thank you very much

For who are we going to give up those assets, who let's face it, are going to be more valuable to other teams, than to us? Please name names.

the assets we're trading are/will be more valuable to us than LMA. no further consideration is necessary. if no truly big name ever comes up in trade talks we're better off standing pat

Noah isn't a top-3 scoring option on a championship team. He is a starter and a valuable piece. He's a super role player and a damn good one at that. Aldridge at his best could be the Robin to someone's Batman. That's more valuable.

Wow. You just called Noah a role player, I don't even know how to respond to that.

Dennis Rodman, Horace Grant, Chris Bosh are role players. Noah is a role player. So what?

Grant was an all-star with the Bulls, so was Noah. Therefore they are not role players, man some of you guys are on something.

It's not that it isn't enticing. It's that it is not that enticing to Portland. Batum is a younger version of Deng (who is a very good player) but he gets more assists and shoots it much better from 3-pt range. Taj, for all his accolades, is a part time bench player and the pick if this year is bad and if the Charlotte pick, too far away.

Not that those are poor pieces, they just don't fit with Portland very well.

If Deng can somehow net #1, then Taj and Alex Len would be a pretty good package for a rebuilding Portland team, especially if we know they want a center (Noah).

Taj and Alex Len, along with future picks, would be closer, right?
Lillard/Matthews/Batum/Gibson/Len is a promising young core to have extra 1st-round picks with.

Even James Harden or D Howard get that kind of haul.

LMA is still a all-star, and not exactly NOT in the realm of these players. It's one thing talking about a solid role-player. But this is a franchise player we are talking about taking. Got to spend in order to get him, otherwise Portland hangs up the phone on us

Exactly, so if those players didn't net that kind of a haul, then why would Aldridge? That's too much, especially when it's being reported that all Portland wants is 2 draft picks and ONE player.

I could see if the deal was Butler, Cats pick and this years 1st (obviously we would have to get contracts to match) but adding Mirotic and Taj is over-kill.

I'm having a hard time imagining an Aldridge offer Portland will take.

Noah would make the process easier, but no one wants to lose this guy (I don't blame them).. and being basically same age as Aldridge, it's not a cunning rebuilding move for Blazers. I mean, they might take Noah/Charlotte-1st/Robinson (let's say Rockets do the #20/TR swap), but I doubt Bulls want to do that. Portland must be very weary of injury-prone big men by now anyway (Walton passed torch to Bowie to Oden to ... Noah?.

For the record, I would trade Noah and sweetener for Aldridge. It'd clearly make us better - we are painfully distant in offensive talent compared to all the top teams. Miami, SAS, OKC, Indy, LAC... I don't forget things. That Philly series kind of exposed all the guys -- Iguadala, Turner, Holiday, Hawes and Allen made Deng, Noah and Korver look bad. Let's see Thibs overachieve with a stronger group of talent.

Good for us. Because we don't have any Robin's on our team. He's just the guy we are looking for.

I never understand it....its always online too. Its like you have Superstars, then everyone just wants to drop down to role-players, just skipping the Star level talent completely.

looks like KG and Pierce are headed to brooklyn, which prolly knocks them outta contention to be our 3rd trade partner

How the heck does Brooklyn have the trade assets for those guys but we don't?

Thank you.

You guys know All-Stars can be role players too? Every player on a team is a role player. It's just that once you play your role well enough, you get an upgraded name. LeBron James is a role player as the facilitator.

exactly my point. our team, with no "robin", surpassed 60 wins in consecutive years. the batman/robin combination of roy/aldridge was not nearly as good

The bulls has the better assets and yet they couldn't pull a deal like that.
