Boston hasn't even expressed interest. This is all coming from the Nets, like all NJ rumors do.

Looks great on paper but I think it would be this season's Lakers all over again... too old and slow to play anything resembling an NBA defense.

i dont know about last years lakers.... i can see it being less then expectations, but no way they blow up like that. for one, dwill/JJ/Lopez have a year under there belt as basically a 50 win team and pierce/KG have been together 6 years now.

thats a bit different then getting nash and dwight and hoping they mesh with kobe.

no matter how bad pierce and KG are, it would be difficult for them not to be a pretty big upgrade to gerald wallace and evans. ESPECIALLY on the defensive end. if all they brought was leadership it would help. Nets are really missing some passion and leadership more then anything.

Brooklyn is in a win now mentality. This trade will make them better for the next 2 years and easily better than the Knicks for the next 2 years.

Doesn't follow that it's a good trade for BK.

the nets are in a win now mode for the next 3 seasons until 2016 when EVERYONE outside of deron william expires. prior to 2016, the nets are over the cap and the luxury tax with no way to really get under either.

So their only real course of action is try and do whatever to win now, and in 2016 hope to add a durant type to dwill and lopez.

if thats the case, why wouldnt you bring in pierce and garnett and try and maxmize the 3 year window before the cap clearing happens?

Yup, but there is a pretty big gap between last year's Lakers and how good the Nets would need to be to justify this. The point is that you need a few good defense/hustle players to be an elite team and KG would be the only such player on the Nets... and at his age I'm not sure how much energy he can provide.

3 years is pretty optimistic. More like 1-2 years and I don't think that's enough time to fill out the bench.

And who are your backups when Pierce and Garnett cant play much beyond 30 mpg? KG was playing in 5 minute bursts this regular season and had to be shut down.
