Kilroy wrote: He played more than Clark because he was a known entity, once Clark showed he could play PF and occasionally guard the 3, he leap-frogged Hill.

He leapfrogged Hill when he got injured.....Hill only returned for like 3 games in the playoffs, obv limited
If Hill had a minor injury and could return earlier, not sure Clark would have stayed in front of him in the rotation

Hill is a C and Clark is a PF by nature....with Gasol playing both PF/C ,lineups could be shaped in which only one was needed as a backup "big"(and that was Hill, who did play with Dwight on occasion, when Pau was rested, both as C's really, but really with Pau more often, when Dwight was rested)...obv injuries happened and the entire rotation got screwed

Clark can play SF on occasion (he can certainly guard SF's,but on offense it's not his ideal role as his shot is not consistent enough)...Hill also can play PF on occasion...their ideal positions though I've mentioned above

And disagree about consistency....Hill does not shine and doesn't have great statistical lines like Clark used to have at the very beginning but also,he doesn't lay stinkers nearly not often enough like Clark used to at the end of the season

When Clark was at PF next to Dwight he was successful. When Clark was asked to play on the perimeter switching Metta to the interior he struggled. Clark's best position is at PF with a bulkier PF behind him. Clark's shot-blocking, rebounding, and speed against the P and R is ideal at PF.

Man.. Looking back ,Lakers' front court wa DEEP on paper.

Dwight, Pau, Jamison, Hill, Clark.

I would take that frontcourt any day..Too bad it would cost something like 45 mill per year.

You would think they would have figured out how to use that healthy crew. Truth is they figured it out for perhaps one game this year when they beat OKC. We'll see if they get rid of Pau, if they don't they'll be swapping Jamison/MWP for a young wing and returning last year's crew.

MWP is more likely to get amnestied, Jamison is about to retire, and he looks like he doesn't want to deal with our team anymore; they are just not the attractive pieces to make anyone want to give up their young back court player.

No as in you sign a young wing and the minutes are spread out in that order.

PG- Nash
SG- Bryant
SF- Wright
PF- Clark
C- Dwight

Quickness, shot-blocking, and shooting.

Per Hoopshype:

Cleveland’s top priority in free agency will be bolstering the power forward spot, where Speights’ price will be too high. One of their top targets to fill the spot, a source said, is the Lakers’ Earl Clark, who played well last year (7.3 points and 5.5 rebounds) after a stint in China and would be interested in signing with Cleveland. Clark earned $1.2 million last year. Sporting News

Hope Mike Brown doesn't come and swoop up Earl.

He showed great potential. He can pretty much do a lil bit of everything and he has good bball iq. best pick and rolll defender on our team IMO. his success is just really up to him now, I hope he works hard this summer.

Clark played well for us when he was getting starter minutes, putting up 9 pts and 7 reb. If he could further develop his outside shot he'd be far more valuable. At times his stroke looked really good so hopefully he's putting in some work in the off-season. He knows he'll be getting a ton of easy opportunities.

He does need some improvement defensively as well. He's fairly athletic so he really just needs a good defensive coach, which sadly we don't have.

Anyway, I'd toy around with the idea of starting him at the 4 next to Howard and sliding Kobe over to the 3.

I think a PF rotation of Clark/Hill is more than enough to get us by (if we improved at the 1 and 2/3 depending on what we do with Kobe). Glue guys and hustle is what we need on this team. Now we just gotta figure out if Howard's staying/if Pau would check his ego and come off the bench. Something tells me Pau's gonna demand a trade if he's not starting....

I like Clark but we cant afford him. He played too good so he will get overpaid. His true value is somewhere in the middle of his performance in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013.

I don't want the Lakers in a Luke Walton role player contract at 5 mil per season.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!
