i know the picks are likely to be in the 20's, but it is 3 picks, i guess with the potential to be 4. Instead of hump expiring, marshon is a dead asset, and only 1 pick

Re: KG and Pierce to Brooklyn?
Ainge turned down a pierce for hump Brooks first deal at trade deadline. What makes people think hell deal pierce Garnett for an even worse package now?
Ainge wants to get something for Garnett rather then have him make a fuss. That's why you do this deal. I think people GREATLY understimate the say players have in the deal. With deals like this its pretty much Garnett and hsi agent orchestrating the deal..

That deal also included Mirza, and at least two firsts. And it was Brooklyn who said no.

Maybe because his options are limited and to get KG to waive his NTC he has to trade them together. Who knows?
Have faith in Ainge, he isn't going to do a bad deal. I think there is under 5 percent chance this gets done.

Sounds OK to me if they take Terry or Lee.

Yeah, there is more to it then just making the best deal via the ESPN trade machine.
Ainge passes on this deal what happens? KG refuses to go to a team that will give better value. Ainge ends up buying our pierce. KG is pissed off playing on a losing celtics game that is just good enough to not be a high lotto team. how does that help anything? not to mention other vets take note of how ainge handled it all
KG's no trade really hurts boston.

I'd rather have KG play one more year for us and retire, then deal Pierce separately, than take on Wallace's contract.

Isn't the Cavs 2 early 2nd rounders for Pierce better than taking on Wallace?

Trust me Ainge feels the same way. Wallace doesn't fit the Celtics. Ainge will find a 3rd team to take him even if he has to give up a pick. Trust Ainge.

Guy only makes $5m a year more than Lee over the same period, and is a significantly better player that might have some measure of trade value of his own. I don't think liquidating him would be that hard in a year or so.

But why do we want to help our division rival form a super-team?
There's better offers then the junk Brooklyn is offering.
Why do we care? We are not winning it all in the next 2 years... and by the time we are ready to really compete... PP and KG will be retired.
Are there better offers? You say this like you know this... but you don't. There are very few teams that would be willing to take on both of them (for $ reasons) and sending PP with KG is a big part of convincing KG to wave his no-trade clause...
I could care less if there are better offers. I'd rather see Pierce and Garnett retire in green before they're send to the Nets and waste their final years there. The same thing that applies to the DeAndre Jordan/Clippers deal applies to this proposed deal as well. If we're not getting value back, then it's not worth it.

Awful deal, unless Ainge has a third team to send Wallace to... Maybe Minnesota?? Maybe Cleveland?

I'm not a Celtics fan because I want to see Pierce and Garnett retire in green rather then trade them to the Nets for Gerald Wallace, Mr. Kardashian and a draft pick in 2018?
Yeah sound logic there...

This is what I'm implying (or some kind of deal of that nature)

I don't know man, Wallace was pretty bad last year and is on the wrong side of 30. I have my doubts about being able to get value for that kind of guy at 10mil per year. Think about how we are stuck with Terry right now. Wallace might be a bit better than Terry, but he commands twice the salary.

You are not making any sense. Obviously if DA doesn't think we are getting value back, then it's not worth it. What does that have to do with trading to a division rival OR that fact that you claim there are better offers out there when you obviously don't know that? And you SHOULD care if there are better offers if you are so concerned (and rightfully so) about getting "value" back. So... basically... you are not making any sense.

Re: KG and Pierce to Brooklyn?
Maybe I'm missing something but how does Wallace at 10 Mil have value? Lots of teams looking for a guy that averaged 7.7 / 4.6 and shot sub 40% last year?

I guess they are thinking maybe we let him play next year and he has a stronger season and some contender will want him later. Idk..
