LaMarcus Aldridge Wants Trade From Blazers, Deems Portland Too Small

I wonder if a sign and trade with Josh Smith for LaMarcus Aldridge could be worked out? Talent wise, it seems like it would be a lateral move for both teams, but each player would get what they want, 14 million per year for Josh and a big market city in Atlanta for Aldridge. It could be a possible "plan C" if things don't work out.

The Blazers rejected a trade offer from CLE that consisted of the 1st and 19th overall draft picks of this year's draft... I don't think the Hawks have much more to offer.

Agree with Parson....he's saying Portland is too small. Well, outside of basketball, what is he looking for? I don't think ATL fits with Aldridge as to where we are today.

We're talking about making a run at D12; that comes first. Then we have Al at the PF and has the praise of CMB and DF. So I don't see a fit here for this talent. If we're smart, D12 comes here and works with the staff and builds this roster to fit the SA system. That means shooters and team players.

No Aldridge, although he would be terrific for SA to take the weight off Duncan, offensively and defensively. That would not be a surprise, but I don't think they have the assets to return to POR.

Understood, but I think once he got here and went out with a few of the Falcons/Braves/Hawks players to Buckhead on a Friday night...I think this city could change his mind.

This city has everything a man in his situation could want, it's the franchise that'd be a hard sell.

Portland is closer to Salt Lake City and Green Bay in terms of diversity, activities, population, etc.

Coming to a team that hasn't ever won anything and currently has no players under contract...I can't imagine he'd be in favor of that, though.

I should have been more specific, sorry.
I meant that the NBA Draft Lottery is supposed to help change the fortunes of a franchise. The first round is supposed to at least yield players that will play a long term part in a team's future.

Looking back, few of the 1st rounders of that draft are with their original teams. Many aren't even in the league anymore.

Rondo and LaMarcus are the only two to really have a huge impact. Now LaMarcus wants to leave. And Rondo is rumored to be the cause of the breakup of the mini-dynasty in Boston and is recovering from a major injury.

This is generally considered one of the weakest drafts in recent history.

Talking about a POR player made me think that we should keep an eye on Oden.
He had meetings with MIA several times these last months, and I don't want him to play 20min that would make them unstoppable.

If the guy has really improve his condition, we have to think about signing him if it's for a decent contract.

^I'd be all over Oden if he was interested. Just give him the Deshawn treatment, no back to back games. Bring him off the bench for 20 mpg.

He has to be better than Jason Collins or Johan Petro.
