If anything, I would say the Porter pick shows that the Wizards are trying to make the playoffs next year. Noel won't be able to contribute much next season.

That is a GREAT trade for Philly! They can tank for Wiggins.

Wait, NO is giving up their 1st; not Philly?

Yeah. It was just stated on ESPN. WOJ made a mistake.

I can't blame Woj. The Pelicans made a far bigger mistake... even worse than choosing to be called the Pelicans.

Philly just stepped off the treadmill.

Watch them have Marcus Smart, Jabari, and Noel in a year.

I hate the MCW pick though. Guys a scrub.

The only justification would be if the doctors determined that the knee just won't handle the rigors of the NBA.

THey did mention this on the broadcast that there were concerns about the knee.

The wizards move was a pure short term move. The long term move would have been Noel. Instead they took the guy just about everybody said was the most ready to step in now and play, and E.G. wants to save his arse before he gets s canned four years after he should have been s canned. It was a pure, b.s., all about me, not about the franchise move. Even if you don't feel that incendiary, there's no denying the wizards move was 100% about making the playoffs next year.

If everyone stays healthy and the Wiz resign Webster, then I think the Wiz would have made the playoffs regardless. Boston, Philly, Bobcats, Magic, and Hawks (if they don't sign anyone) will all be worse.

I agree, Noel might not even play half of next season

Eh, I don't love this trade for NO. They're in a hurry to get to mediocre. Holiday is good, but he's not a difference maker by any stretch, and he was never going to see another AS game again in the EC. They've got nothing with Rivers and Gordon doesn't want to be there. I love Davis, but I don't love the rest of that roster.

I'll take at least partial credit for calling that trade. Before the Wiz "won" the lottery, I called for trading the pick to Utah for 14 and 21 - so that Utah could take Burke.

I posted several Jrue to NO ideas on the trade board, so can I be called a sear :)

Guilty as charred?

MCW is the best defensive PG. Noel is the best defensive player overall, at PF/C. They got a pick with Noel just for Jrue Holiday.

I think they did better than fine. Noel was the highest rated player, and a phenomenal defender prior to his injury.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Looks like top 5 protection.

I still can't believe NO gave up a pick.

Can we just be happy with are pick? I wanted Noel but something must be wrong if so many teams pass up on him.

That's not enough justification for me. All reports said Noel's knee was fine. It seems like Ernie wanted to save his job because he knows he can't afford to bust another pick. I didn't even like the Porter pick if Noel WASNT available.

Same im trying to look on the bright side of things :(

It's a great move by Philly. They add two very good young talents, both of whom should need a year or two of seasoning. That sets up a strong tank for next year. That NO pick is only top 3 protected so they could go into next offseason with two top 5 picks in the strongest draft in a while.

Pissed off because not enough people agreed with who you wanted to draft or are you pissed off because other people are whining because they didn't get the player they wanted?

Bobcats, Philly, Magic, Suns, and maybe Hawks will be all worse than NO next year.
