So what should I look for in terms of potential NBA skills during the summer league?
Ball handling, court vision, defense.
FWIW I do not think he's physically ready for the NBA, but he's also the youngest player in the draft by kind of a lot.
Hydration level.
Hopefully, or we'll be trading him for Belinelli in 2 years.

Tobias is a basketball player. There is no way to absolve the Redick/Harris trade regardless of the opinions on Hammond overall.

Obviously don't have to like the pick, but I'm a little surprised by some being so down on a pick that is essentially against everything this organization has done in recent years. They've taken a chance on a guy that could be a home run instead of picking a safer role player. Its the farthest thing from a win now pick.

Tweeners need love too.
Especially when they have 20 ppg and All-Star potential.

This. Although Hammond seems to think he can play right away in some sort of role

But it is closer to a complete bust pick.

Dallas was prepared to take him with the 13th pick, but he wants to play in the NBA this coming season and not be stashed overseas.
The article posted earlier on this board though stated he's signed for next season:
Meet Giannis Antetokoumpo, a 6-10 point guard who already has signed to play professionally next season for Zaragoza in Spain.
Never under estimate the value of a Buck!

For those who are wondering why, I'm not sure you are understanding the probabilities and outcomes here behind the pick. This was a weak draft. And that doesn't mean there aren't any good players. It just means there were no stand-out franchise players. Any person picked at #15 has basically a 15% probability of being a traditional starter, and it might even be lower in this case.
So given that any player you pick is ~15% probability, do the expected value calculation. The expected value of Giannis I'm sure is higher than many more players. If you are attempting a rebuild, go with the full upside. If he fails hard, we get a better pick next year. If he succeeds, we probably turn into a pretty damn good team. If you go with a "solid role player", we stay mediocre. The reason why Joe Alexander was a terrible pick compared to this is because we weren't attempting to rebuild. We were actually trying to keep the team where it was.
Getting the "best" player in the draft, in a draft like this, is probably not the right avenue to go down to if you are attempting to rebuild. You DEFINITELY go with the higher variance guy, because it benefits you either way.

As a drafter, Hammond does tend to operate in a way which in theory should please most people in this forum.

Why don't some people trust Hammond's drafting? The guy has been money for the most part. Free agency and trades....not so much.

Anyone think we can trade Jennings still tonight? SAC might him? Heck I'd see if Sixers want him, & either LRMM OR Udoh for MCW & E. Turner? Part of me still thinks that the Mavs might want him for Marion and S. Larkin?
