This was supposed to happen years ago. No use in complaining about it now. EX on suicide watch.

3 1st round picks, Simmons looks like he may cry on live television, and several posters may have left as UFA's to the Nets board.

HUZZAH!!!
You gotta make it sexy! Hips and nips, otherwise I'm not eating.

Are we paying the entirety of Wallace's contract? Is there any possible way the Nets are covering any of it?

The nets are going to be good. Someone to root for in the playoffs while the Cs battle for the basement.

I am so bummed about pierce. My all time favorite player.

as a celtics fan i hate this trade mainly becuase of teh bad contract we have to take back. as a guy who lives 5 blocks from the barklay center, i kinda love the idea.

Eh...maybe 1 of those 4 picks will pan out. Not worth it to take on Gerald Wallace's terrible contract.

LOL at some of you.

Did you really think we were getting a great player or great prospect or lottery pick for KG & Pierce? Quit being homers and be realistic. This is one of the best possible offers we could get for two 37 year old players who are on big contracts and could retire soon.

It's a BAD trade....some of us pay to watch this stuff....it's a valid complaint when your ticket prices DON'T MOVE because your payroll didn't change much but instead of pierce and KG, you get Wallace....WTF

The fact we got wallace means ainge is on a pure rebuild mode. Don't expect superstar signings in FA, the dark ages are here again...

Well - let's just say some of us liked it better when the rumors involved Asik + TRob for Pierce. I have no doubt Danny took the best deal he could get. But it's not one that goes down easy (except for Caveman, we hear you).

I think we could have gotten more cap flexibility if we waited. Danny wanted this done for some reason. He also thinks the Nets will collapse in 4-5 years, which they might.

The Gerald Wallace contract is the problem. Celts are capped out with no players now.

You sure about that?

Ben Rohrbach @brohrbach 2 minutes ago
Asked directly if Rondo was a superstar worth building around - a la Pierce in 2007 - Ainge said emphatically, "Yes."

Chris Forsberg @ESPNForsberg 2 minutes ago
Not hard to read between lines with Ainge tonight. When mentioning future, didn't include Pierce, KG, or Terry in references.

Jessica Camerato @JCameratoNBA 4 minutes ago
Ainge said there are players on Celtics he's not looking to move right now, including Rondo.

Good assessment:

We have EIGHT picks we can trade next summer. Our own in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019 (provided we draft for someone next summer). Nets in 2014, 2016 and 2018. Clippers in 2015.

$15m in expirings at the deadline, led by Humphries and Crawford. $9m in expiring contracts next summer with Bass and Evans.

With Rondo, Green, Bradley, Sullinger, Melo and Olynyk as other tradable assets.

I am stoked.

Kg and pierce get to play for a title. Don't we want that for them ? The other option is they stay and we get bounced in the first round or don't make the playoffs at all

4 crapshoots and an overpaid contract? Yeah, I'd rather buyout Pierce and let KG retire. This is worse than the Clippers deal.
