Golf clap for DA. He pulled off highway robbery...
Those later picks will be gold when KG n PP are gone and Deron and JJ are 33-35+.

LOLOL
On the one hand, it is tragic that the third greatest Celtic of all time & STILL A TOP TIER SF in the NBA at age 35 will finish his brilliant HOF career elsewhere. Paul will pass Hondo and retire a Top 10-15 scorer in NBA history, but Hondo will remain the leading scorer in career Celtic history forever.
On the other hand, Paul & KG added to Deron (who I have ALWAYS thought was a stud & a COMPLETE **** PG), JJ and Lopez can beat Miami next season (and **** all over the KnUCKS).
Meanwhile we will dump Rondo and Green for more assets, and start from scratch with a bushel full of picks and ?Wiggins?.
I admittedly was 100% behind the trade PP/KG bandwagon this off-season and one of the vocal proponents but I say this knowing PP in my mind is the 3rd best Celtic and I think KG has been criminally underrated at times.
That all being said, the Nets can easily collapse by the time of that 2016 pick. Deron Williams is great but JJ will be a huge liability by then and Lopez has had some injuries. If PP and KG retires after 2 year with 1 more ring, there is a very good chance that the Nets fall apart and go to the lottery.
And BTW the Clippers are not exact a stacked team either right now and are one Chris Paul injury from falling apart if they lose their backup PG. How does BK and DJ perform without a PG?
Ainge has done a great job in kick starting the rebuild while putting KG/PP in a position to beat the Heat and play together with an organization that will probably treat them in a first class manner.
Given how criminally underrated both of them were at time earlier in their careers, they both deserve it.
And any Celtic fan that doesn't give them a standing ovation for about 5 minutes when the return is not a Celtic fan as far as I'm concerned.
The trade of PP and KG may have paved the way for the next great star from Kansas... Andrew Wiggins... If the Celtics finish 2nd or 3rd in that lottery, Ainge will have some picks to trade to probably move up...
It's a no brainer that Rondo and Green should probably be traded...its just a matter of the proper time.
Good post but you don't trade the #1 pick when there's a real 'prize' (Shaq, LBJ, etc. - remains to be seen if Wiggins lives up to the early hype in this regard). Also no reason Rondo and Green can't hang around, really.

the most random thing about tonight is the fact that I LOVE Reggie Evans!!! hahahaha. Gonna be a fun tanking season. Didn't think Ainge would tank but it's looking that way.
Reggie Evans and Sully on the court at the same time = every single rebound

Also the Wallace contract doesn't really matter. With or without KG and Pierce this team can't contend for the next two years. And in the third year, the contract becomes a tradeable asset.

Absolutely... completely confused at how people are missing this. And we can swap picks in 2017?
We just violated them.

If we get Josh Smith you can add me to the "Fire Danny" club. It's tank or bust next season.

The only thing that could make this worse is signing Bum Smith.

Can people stop with this Wiggins garbage already? We understood your position 50,000 words ago.
I hate to break the news to the folks who never want to win a game next year, but Rondo/AB/Green/Sully are going to wins some games. Having those players on the roster means we will not be one of the worst teams in the league.

not necessarily, we can send mr kardashian's expiring with an asset (pick or young talent) in a sign and trade.
the bigger question is: does Josh still want to come here??

Ahh so it is possible.
I'd say he'd still be down to play with Rondo, Bradley and Green.

I don't understand why people keep saying those picks are worthless. The first pick (2014) is obviously worthless. But the 2016 and 2018 picks are worth A LOT.
KG, Pierce, and Terry will be retired by then. Joe Johnson would be a 35-yr old on a $25M contract. Deron Williams will be 32 years old. Trust me, the 2016 and 2018 picks are going to be very high lottery picks. And best of all, they are UNPROTECTED.
It's crazy. The Celtics will have a pair of first round picks in 4 of the next 5 drafts. They get to tank hard for Wiggins this season. Danny Ainge is going to be named exec of the year in 2016. Book it.
I am all for this trade... but I disagree about the picks. They will all be in the 20s. What you are forgetting is that in 2016 and 2018 they will (most likely) still have a Billionaire owner... and he will keep shelling out money to keep them in contention. When PP and KG leave... they will just pull off some other crazy trade to get some more guys in there...

Danny tried trading for him several months ago and getting rid of Pierce and KG.

Re: KG and Pierce to Brooklyn?
I don't think we can say Gerald Wallace is not movable at this point. Of course, he isn't movable right away. But, let him get some nice minutes on this **** team and he might actually look good. He could give us 14/7. He really isn't that far removed from those numbers. If not, he sticks around for 2 years and he will be movable in year 3 as an expiring contract.
I really wished we would have drafted Shabazz though. On this team, we could have let him run wild. He could have scored 20 inefficient points in his sleep for us. Would have been another great asset.

We have like 300,000 draft picks we could package with Humphries.
Once they lose out on the top FAs, they will need to hit the salary floor of $52.5m. They don't have to, per se, but they would get charged for anything below that. So a 1 year $12m deal could be desirable in its own right within that context, and I don't think it would take much on top of that to get them to S&T (provided we stay below apron).
And especially if Smith leverages them by threatening to go to Dallas or whatever, for nothing. Getting 1-2 picks and meeting the salary floor might be preferable to that.
Of course, we may be on the verge of full tank, with Rondo on the way out now. And with Crash, Sully and Olynyk, is there really room for Smith or his salary?
Guess we will find out.
