At the end of the night I suspect the reason we didn't go back into the first round was to avoid a guaranteed contract to maximize our cap space. First two picks were excellent, meh on the last two but if you get a starter and a rotation player in this draft I think Neil O. did well

Because we didn't pick who you think would be good from the second round? I don't think you can go from perfect to pretty good unless you missed the R.O.Y. in the second round.

There were a lot of deals made for late firsts. We were involved in none. That meant we missed out on opportunities for a raw player like Gobert or Dieng to help our frontline if not now in the future. We needed to take some risks but we played it safe

How did we play it safe? Maybe we didn't like Gobert, we got a late first in Crabbe and Dieng went 21, well past were we could have gotten a pick without giving up significant assets.

*CJ was a good BPA pick by Portland I think. I would have liked to get a guy who can potentially be more than a 6th man, but considering how the Top 9 shook out, I think they got the best guy who was still available. I'll be interested to see if his shooting is all it's hyped up to be.

*2nd round picks for Portland, I like the Crabbie (spelling?) and Whithey picks. The other guys I don't really know much about, so who knows.

How I feel exactly. I think McCollum could make a great Jarret Jack impact off the bench, but CJ does kind of lack the potential to be a sure-thing starter with his size.

Muscala would have been a great pick-up to nab, but I have to prefer Jeff Withey considering we have absolutely ZERO shot-blockers on our team. When our best defender is LMA/Wes, you know we're in trouble. Who knows who Withey pans out in the NBA, but you can say those exact statements to every single draft pick. 3.9 BPG for Kansas in his senior season (including a triple double of 16 pts, 12 rbs, 12 blocks)...... I'm happy we have him.

Now to watch some film of Withey and Crabbe!

I would have liked Gobert for sure, but I can understand Portland not wanting to use guaranteed money on him and cut into their cap space as well. Especially with a guy who has such high bust potential.

I more hated the fact that he went to the Jazz more than Portland didn't get him honestly.

Olshey just said they didn't want to impact their cap space on guys who didn't project to be starters. Obviously CJ doesn't, but he does project to play big minutes. So that more goes to speak for why they didn't bother buying a pick in the late 20's.

Among the realistic possibilities who is a better option for Portland than Dalembert? I have been a big advocate for signing him but more as a stopgap until a young center can be developed and I don't want to be relying on Meyers Leonard as being that sole possible option to develop. We need options and we have did not get them in this draft

Also just means we didn't like the bigs in the draft or couldn't get em.

Utah obtained Gobert for the 46th pick and cash. We had 3 2nds better than the 46th . With the 45th pick we drafted a Euro player who is averaging 2.8 ppg . Will next years draft available bigs be better than this years? If so will we have a pick to draft them with? At what point do we start developing a young big to become a starter?

Now we desperately need some rebounding, or have to pray the Meyers Leonard learnt how to grab rebound during the off-season (long shot). If only JJ Hickson could be had (and was keen to stay) as a 3rd big off the bench......

When I heard Burke was getting traded to Portland, I was hoping we'd send him to Utah in a package for Kanter of Favors. Those kids knows how to rebound, that cannot be denied!

Yes. But you're also not taking into account that they were the bpa on several boards, including espns. Green, Muscala and Carmichael were bpa in that order.

You would really prefer jerret and that euro guy than any combo of the above mentioned players?

Yeah, excuse me for being a little disappointed.

Aldridge, Withey, Leonard & Jermaine O'Neil. Do they need anyone else at PF/C??? Isn't Withey a guy who can play now?

We don't want 5 rookies hell we didn't want 3 rookies, I trust our FO scouts over ESPN.

Olshey himself said he only wanted to come out of this draft with 2 rookies, but couldn't pass on Whithey for that cheap.
