Just noticed Brown is the first State guy to go. Couple others in Leslie and Howell I wouldn't mind bringing in.

Why? We'll just pass on all those guys and draft Mitch McGary instead. I think Cho only drafts players that can beat him in a game of ping pong or something.

Honestly, some pretty good UDFAs out there.

CJ Leslie, Richard Howell, Seth Curry, Brandon Paul, Jackie Carmichael, Trevor Mbakwe, Matthew Dellavedova, Phil Pressey, etc.

Yeah, clearly we'd pass on those guys

You can not like the pick (I didn't either), but you're being ridiculous to even insinuate that.

We drafted Zeller while Noel, McLemore and even Len were all available. Technically, we passed on all those guys. Just like we passed on Drummond, Lillard, etc last year.

I mean, I'm gonna put on my GaZeller hat and root for him like everybody else but I have no faith that we will draft well anymore, even in a stacked draft.

Thank you BrotherDave. I thought I was the only one disappointed in this pick. I think I was being modest by grading it a C+. I'll adapt and move on but it's hard to accept that the top prospect in Noel fortunately fell to us due to injury because the top 3 teams were in win-now mode and we take the guy that was ranked 10th at best by most publications in Zeller. I'm disgusted but I'll get over it in the morning.

My first two choices were Oladipo or Zeller, so I'm happy.

Glad to see Clifford's comments about Zeller being a face up 4 because that's exactly how I think his game will translate. He should be an excellent pick n' roll player with Walker.
Zeller will be the best big out of Noel and Len. I don't get the hype with those guys. I can understand if you wanted McLemore because we need scoring, but he's more of a risk and I don't know how good of a fit he would be here.

Let's all remember that next years draft is the real key to our future.

re: simmons vs doc - i know a lot of us bobcat fans are sick of simmons crapping on the cats, but i dont know how any of us didnt love him calling out doc for quitting on the celtics. its exactly what happend and simmons had the stones to point it out. rivers shouldnt be immune to criticism. i wish more people would have called larry brown out when he did this crap to every team he every coached. espn needs guys like simmons who arent afraid to have an opinion at times. i am sick of the boring journalism where they kiss the asses of the players and coaches. if that means simmons talks **** about the cats and jordan when we suck so be it.

Hindsight is great, huh?

Why would we take Lillard, who dominated D2, when we already had Kemba, who dominated in the Big East and all the way through to the NCAA Championship? Lillard was never considered a top 5 pick, the Blazers gambled and won. And despite being a rookie he's only 2 months younger than Kemba.

All those guys you mentioned went 5th or lower (all the way to 9th for Drummond), so anywhere from 4 to 8 teams passed on them; and aside from Len, their slides didn't stop right after our pick. It's not like we were the only team that passed on some sure-fire, franchise-altering talents. Otherwise, guys like McLemore and Drummond would have been taken right after us, not sliding to the bottom half of the top 10.

Wiggins, on the other hand, will not be passed on by anyone unless Randle, Parker or whoever has a crazy season. We draft based on BPA, and while Zeller had fallen in the eyes of the media that doesn't mean he did to the teams (we know that both the Suns and Sixers wanted him). I didn't like the pick either, but if the rumors about Cho from earlier today have any credence, Cho is risking his career on this pick. If he has enough faith in Zeller to put so much on the line, then I think I can get behind the pick.

Now, off to convince myself that we just got the next LMA. 'Tis the season of optimism.

but in doing so, Doc helped the Celtics as they were able to trade him.

Seemed best for both imo

I don't believe Noel was passed because the top 3 teams were in win now mode.

I think he just wasn't really that great a prospect.

Forget hindsight, you can go find my posts. I loved Drummond and thought he should have been the pick. I was very high on Lillard after seeing his Kings' workout vid. Yeah, Kemba and Lillard on the same team would have been a conundrum but it doesn't matter b/c the Bobcats should be drafting for TALENT and not need. I don't know how anybody can honestly believe that we draft for BPA and not for need. All we have ever done is fill needs.

What happens if Wiggins isn't assertive enough? And Parker has a stress fracture? And Randle tears an ACL? We will probably reach 5 spots too high for Marcus Smart is my guess because "he's a hard worker."

But Zeller can jump really high and nail wide open jumpers with no one guarding him.
