I remember the scoring outburst Pierce had against the New Jersey Nets when they were lead by Kidd, Martin and others. I mean, Pierce owned them to the point where I recall him proclaiming that they couldn't guard him and Kidd concurred. Boston won the game in overtime.

It'll be strange to see him as a Net and Kidd as his head coach to boot.

Ugh, Roddy that is God awful ugly....

I'm nearly in tears over here, it's just going to be so weird without him... My favorite game is when he dropped 48 on New Jersey waaaay back, but I know his defining moments of his career will be that shootout vs. Lebron and winning that MVP, baby...

I'll miss him greatly, and I ain't never taking down my sig, he stands right next to Larry as one of my 2 favorite Celtics of all time, and a top 10 Celtic ever in my book.

I'm gonna miss the **** out of KG too... damn....

My two favorite players in the world, gone in one fell swoop. Sad, sad day. Tons of amazing memories.

On another note, the Nets-Knicks rivalry just got real.

Painful - it'll be rough watching him suit up for another team.

This is really it. The Big Three era is finally over. Hope you and KG get to win one more ring together before your careers are done. Thank you for being the pillar that the Big Three leaned on when a basket was needed. Whether you scored the basket or assisted on it, you would always somehow be involved. Farewell Captain.

I feel for you Celtics fans.

Dirk and Pierce were in the same draft class together and were both players who have stuck with the same team since day one but now Pierce is moving on...
As a Mavs fan I would be sick to my stomach if I ever saw Dirk in another uniform.

What devastating news to wake up to. I have never went into a season without Paul Pierce as the head of the Celtics. This sucks so much. Not to mention it's such a **** awful trade if we keep the junk coning our way.

Thank you Paul Pierce the **** TRUTH!! :(

It has been absolutely fantastic watching Pierce grow and succeed as a player over the years. A true Boston sports legend.

Words cannot express my sadness. We've lost PP and KG....damn it.
I'm gonna watch every game they play and root for them to win next years championship because they deserve it.
Thank PP for all you've done here !

Pierce is my favorite player of all time. Sad to see him go, but we all saw it coming. When it was rumored to the Clip, I was bitter and wanted them to lose every game.

But now, living in NY, I would love to see them win the title and rip the heart out of knicks fans. PP and KG could tear this city apart by winning it all. Knicks fans would be MISERABLE!

So I have to cling to that.

Hopefully you stay on the board Ex. I don't post a lot, although have been posting more lately.

Those guys shouldn't wear black.

Ex, his pretty much admitted himself he will be a nets can now. I think we may see him on here once in a while talking about how great of a night pp had as a nets.

Thanks for everything pp and looking forward to seeing your name raised to the rafters with all the other great players.

Abbreviated thoughts on an indescribably sad day:

My favorite player EVER since I seriously started watching pro basketball & the Celtics in 1970.

Paul Pierce has given me more viewing sports pleasure & gratification than ANY player in ANY sport during my lifetime. He has been the epitome of Celtic PRIDE & über-EXCELLENCE!

CONSUMMATE PROFESSIONAL SCORER, right there with Kobe as the MOST CLUTCH player of his generation with literally innumerable clutch makes AND assists, awesome rebounder/playmaker/defender as a SF, TOUGH as mother **** nails battling back from being stabbed/almost killed & having his front teeth obliterated, totally unselfish team player, loyal to a **** fault, & matured into one of the best & most professional leaders of men in Celtic history.

**** HANDS DOWN & UNEQUIVOCABLY, Paul Pierce is the most criminally underrated, most underappreciated, & most NOT PROPERLY appreciated Super Star of the last 20 years - by the national/local media, by casual fans & by some SMFH Boston Celtic fans TO THIS MOTHER **** DAY!

First ballot future HOFER after a MEGA-BRILLIANT & MAGNIFICENT 15 year career & STILL counting.
Slightly arguable Top 30 NBA player of all time & one of the best SFs of all time & one of the most clutch players of all time.
#34 in the **** rafters after a 60 minute ovation ASAP!
Arguably Top 3 Celtic of all time. A Celtic Legend. A Celtic Giant.
Top 3-5 Celtic of all time unless you have been living on **** Pluto & have the basketball insight of a demented squid.
BEST pure scorer in Celtic history & that includes Larry Legend.
>24K points: Second ONLY to Hondo amongst career Celtics & currently #20 in NBA history & will finish his career easily the #10 - #15 scorer in NBA history.
#5 in NBA history in 3 point shots made.
Celtic leader in FTs made, 3 point shots made, steals & amongst the leaders in EVERY **** stat.

At age 35, after his point guard went down in late 1/2013, he literally carried the mother **** Boston Celtics to the playoffs putting up unquestionably All Pro numbers (19+ ppg on 48.5% & & 42.5% & multiple triple doubles). He broke down during the POs because his season-long pinched cervical nerve re-flared & he was unfairly asked at age 35 to be the mother **** PG - as well as the primary scorer. In other words, he is STILL very much an ELITE SF in the NBA at age 35.

It is tragic that he needed to be moved (along with the brilliant KG) so we could start our rebuild. It is tragic that he will not retire as a career Celtic like Russ, Larry & Hondo...& like Kobe & Dirk & Timmy.

On the other hand, Ainge has given Paul (& KG) a chance to win another banner during his final 2 years in the NBA. Paul + KG added to a 'TOTAL' PG like DWill + Lopez + JJ = a team that can beat the Heatles & win a championship - while defecating on the KNUCKS.

I will ALWAYS be a Celtic fan, but, for the next 2 years or so, the "Paul Pierce Nets" will be my primary team.

I am going to buy some kind of Nets package of games. One of my girls lives 4 blocks from the Barclay Center.
Amtrak DC to NYC here I come.

God bless the mother **** TRUTH, PAUL **** PIERCE! And thank you X 1 billion.
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.
