first thing. amnesty CV31.
we definitely need to sign another big off the bench to play at worst a 3 big rotation. the likelyhood of drummond not playing 82 games feels high to me. if monroe is our only other capable center then that will be a problem. ive been thinking jj hickson even though he is mainly a PF.
other than that we obviously need a starting small forward. i really hope we throw as much as we can at getting igoudala. seems to be the best option. joes comments about getting more athletic definitely makes me feel better about that.
theyre the two biggest needs. with what we have left, i think we can go after a SG and a point guard, was thinking o.j mayo for more floor spacing, bringing kcp off the bench as instant offense, and maybe see if chauncey wants to come back and play the backup point for a year or two, doubt it though, wants another ring i think

Assuming we are going to continue to develop Knight as a starting combo guard then

1) Trade Rodney Stuckey and Kyle Singler to Boston for Jeff Green and Courtney Lee
2) Sign Darren Collison to a 3/12 deal

Knight/Collison/Siva
KCP/Lee/English
Green/Middldeton
Monroe/Mitchell/Jerebko/CV
Drummond/Slava

I would love this so much, I can't even tell you. We might see Lee start at SG if we did that, but there's nothing wrong with that, imo. Only thing I would add is signing a backup C like Dalembert. Add Dalembert and I think we'd be pretty good going forward.

Will we really have to give up assets for Green though? He's going to hurt the tank and will play the same position as the top 2014 picks.

I think we can do Stuckey, Singler, Jonas for Bledsoe and acquire Green by eating up Lee and providing a heavily protected future 1st. Bledsoe is the only short guard who could effectively guard SGs so he could even start with Knight.

Knight/Bledsoe/siva
Bledsoe/KCP/Lee
Greene/Middleton/Lee/Stackhouse
Monroe/Mitchell/Green
Drummond/Monroe/Blair

Sure, its young but it can turn out like Warriors.

Why do you for one second believe this package would get Bledsoe? Beyond the salary not matching, why would LA do it personnel wise?

Butler would have to come back to of course. Really though, a few teams dropped out of the bledsoe sweepstakes. NO got holiday. The jazz got burke. That leaves:
1. Mavs - nothing to really offer. Doubt they give up 2014 pick
2. Raptors - Ross, Derozan or Amir
3. Magic - Afflalo
4. Us - Stuckey, Singler, Jonas

I don't think its outside the realm of possibility

Mike James started over collison in Dallas. Mike James wasn't in the league the season before that

Caldwell-Pope is your starting shooting guard. I don't see any way a trade for Courtney Lee makes sense.

Collison started 50 games for the Mavs. He averaged 13 points/ 6 assists/ 3 boards as a starter on 47℅Fg, 42 % 3pt, 91℅ Ft, which is much better than anything Knight has done for the team. Don't penalize Collison because he was mishandled by Dallas. He's underrated and be a great part time starting PG for the team

I agree with your logic on the team needs. I think the line-up as of now looks more like this:

G Brandon Knight/ Rodney Stuckey / Siva
G Kentavious Caldwell-Pope/Kim English
F Kyle Singler / Khris Middleton /Jonas Jerebko
F Greg Monroe / Tony Mitchell / Charlie Vilanueva
C Andre Drummond / Slava Krastov

I think Kim English doesn't survive the summer league. I think Siva will be the third pg. Stuckey most likely gets bought out if Calderon comes back. CV stays as well cause we have no big depth and he is getting paid anyways. I'd like to add a starting point guard, starting small forward, and back-up center. New line-up with open needs:

G (FA or Calderon) / Brandon Knight
G Kentavious Caldwell-Pope / Brandon Knight
F (FA signee) / Kyle Singler
F Greg Monroe / Jonas Jerebko
C Andre Drummond / (FA signee)
Bench:
Khris Middleton (9th man)
Tony Mitcthell (10th man)
Siva (11th man)
Slava Krastov (12th man)

okay, don't punish knight because he was mishandles by Detroit, he's underrated and blah blah. Darren collison has been on 3 or 4 different teams , he's not going to do anything dramatic for us. Also he was benched for a reason. NO THANK YOU

Agreed on not trading Moose. Way too much to give up for Rondo who'll be injured for at least half of next season.

Return to Detroit Pistons
