FA SFs
Joe D was very clear and he said he will go after at least another perimeter player (likely a SF) who is a good athlete and can help spread the floor.
So who are the potential FA SFs who fit the bill? I can think of 2, Dorell Wright and Martell Webster, am I missing anyone? If yes how they compare to this 2?
Comparing both...
Dorell Wright
- solid mid-range jumper (from the top of the key and the baseline)
- 36.6 percent from 15ft+ (Same as Gallo, George, Batum)
- 36.5 from 3 point.
- Great size and athleticism, long wingspam, 40-inch vertical, 6'9".
- Lack consistency.
- Does not attack the rim despite of athleticism and size.
- Solid court vision and is a very willing passer.
- Is a solid enough defender, but not a lockdown defender.
- Lack instincts, aggressiveness and lateral quickness on defense.
- Been in the league for 8 years. Was a starter in Miami prior to his injury.
Martell Webster
- Decent spot up shooter.
- Fine athlete. Decent size 6'7".
- Some desire to attack the defense (been working on it)
- Turn over prone when attacking the defense.
- 41.8 percent from 15ft+ (Same as Kevin Martin and better than O.J. Mayo)
- 42.2 percent from 3 point.
- Been battling against Injuries forever... (has history of injuries since HS?)
- Limited offensively.
- Is a lockdown defender.
- Been in the league for 7 years. Was a starter in Portland and Washington, didn't play much in Minny.
If anyone knows more about them than I do feel free to correct me I won't get angry.

Re: FA SFs
Iggy, obviously, although he has no consistent jumper. Green perhaps? I still think Evans can play SF. Maybe even JR Smith, but that's a long stretch ... But I am intrigued by still trying to get Smith. He's athletic, CAN spread the floor and would be welcome as a sixth man, taking time at both the 2 and the 3.
I like both Wright and Webster, but shouldn't we try to get a bigger name to start with?
Just throwing it out there

Joe was pretty vocal about the floor spreading part when he said about our needs. Iggy can't spread the floor at all. He is pretty bad at shooting. Evans can't shoot either. I wanted JR Smith but makes no sense now that we got KCP.

Re: FA SFs
Makes sense I guess... Just for the sake of argument, in your opinion, who could run our offense best? Evans or Knight?

Re: FA SFs
Neither, If I had to pick one would be Knight because at least he is a good shooter and would space the floor. They're both a disaster as PG since neither of them is a PG.

Re: FA SFs
Wright has been on my radar for a while... shouldn't cost anything insane and just seems to fit the mold old school Joe used to follow:
Been traded around quite a bit but hasn't really had a "home" since Miami
Capable defender, passer, good length, reasonably athletic
Can shoot it from long range
You don't sign him to get a world beater - you sign him as the 5th starter that can do a little bit of everything and hit open shots.
I don't ever recall reading or hearing of any off the court drama with him either, so that's a positive as well
Signing Wright would still leave us plenty of cap space to make a serious move too

Re: FA SFs
I think if we sign a SF it has to be Iggy. I could also see a small line-up with Caldwell Pope at SF and a back-court with Knight and Calderon. Good shooting there.

Re: FA SFs
Considering Philly looks to be positioning themselves for an epic tank job next season, Evan Turner could probably be acquired for a fair price.

Re: FA SFs
Couple other targets (via Trade) could be:
Gerald Wallace
With Boston trading for him as part of the Pierce/Garnett deal, he is one of their only long term contracts. Could probably be had for cheap. He is older than the core, on a longer contract, and has an injury history are the main negatives. He does bring some athleticism and tough defense which would fit well.
Danny Granger
May or may not fit with Indiana currently. He is older than our current core and coming off an injury, but is an expiring contract and can spread the floor for us. Could provide some vet leadership. Should be able to be had for relatively cheap.
Marvin Williams
Has never really lived up to his potential. Sounds like a classic Dumars pickup. On an expiring contract and a little bit younger (27 years old). Can shoot the ball decent and a decent defender.

If we had our 2014 pick I could see that happening but we don't. I'm not sure we have the assets to add him at the moment.

Re: FA SFs
I used to think Granger would be ideal on the roster. But after passing up on Trey and getting KCP, we now need a slasher at the SF position, not another shooter. However, I wouldn't be mad if we got him. But I want Iggy.

Re: FA SFs
Jeff Green is somebody that may be traded for at a reasonably low price, as Boston is going into a full rebuild now. He's inconsistent, but has a well rounded game, and is a Georgetown buddy of Monroe's.
I like Martell Webster. If he leaves Washington (better chance now that they have Porter), he wouldn't command a big contract. But, he's probably a better piece off the bench than as a permanent starter.
Al-Farouq Aminu could be a nice addition if he started to make his three pointers.
Danny Granger would be nice, but there's obvious complications there. His health being the biggest.
*If Denver resigns Igoudala for a substantial sum (which is likely), and wishes to sign Corey Brewer as a cheap backup, I really like the idea of trading for Wilson Chandler. Something like Stuckey and a first rounder in 2017, or something like that.
We would have a really promising line-up with Chandler. He would be my top choice.

He is a pretty bad shooter. Brewer and Iggy are better than him, that's how bad he is.
