If Dwight bolts.... tank?

Ship out Gasol and Nash. Amnesty MWP.

I know the T-word is taboo in LakerLand, but if there's one year to do it...

Plus the consolation prizes are pretty damn nice too.

There have been 3 threads like this and all of them have been locked... I'm only leaving this one open to selfishly explore the thought of having just Nash on the payroll in 2014 (Maybe... I actually think he could retire) AND having a lottery pick... That would literally blow a lot of Lakers Fans/Haters minds.

I doubt it happens unless for whatever reason, Kobe doesn't play or sucks real bad. Because the Lakers don't "Tank."

But Sucking real bad is a possibility.

Yeah, sorry, this is under the assumption that Kobe takes his recovery super slow.

Bulls fan here. Don't shoot me yet! Realistically, if Dwight leaves, that means free agency is not going to work out this year for LA. No CP3 either.

I think the League does well when LA, Chicago, and NY as well as Boston are all competitive. That being said, for one year, LA should tank, just like Boston is doing and go for Wiggins or Parker.

If you do that, trade Gasol, Nash, Kobe and amnesty Metta World Garbage for picks and other young assets. If you can bring back Bynum on the cheap (which you probably can't cause he's going to want a hefty contract) I'd say do it.

IMO, I say you do this because I just have a hard time seeing LA pull a San Antonio. Those guys shouldn't have made the Finals. I know they kept it competitive, but they are a different team than LA with way more chemistry and a much better coach (let's be realistic... D'Antonio doesn't know how to use Dwight which lead to this mess and he's no Poppovich, Jackson, or even Thibodeau).

I know it's crazy to think of trading Kobe, but send him to Chicago... and maybe you get picks plus Boozer or Luol. I know those aren't sexy names to have on your team, but you can start with young players and they can be your vets for a couple years while rebuilding.

Kobe has a no trade clause and is going nowhere unless the Lakers amnesty him.

That said I think you should do a MAJOR tank, go for the number 1 pick - let Kobe sit out the whole season and start over with one of the top prospects you get in the draft.

Kobe can waive the clause just like Garnett and the Bulls have historically been the only team he would do that for.

Ill be okay with a tank season if Dwight leaves. Gives us a an opportunity to be in the lottery and who knows even draft that dude wiggins. That is if we even have a draft pick

As much as Wiggins sounds like an awesome idea for next years draft. In reality there is no such thing as tanking in Lakerland.

Visitors heed these words....

The Lakers DON'T TANK......ever.

If Dwight leaves then he leaves why the hell should we panic ?

Until you can intellgently answer that then and only then will this thread have some cred. But as of now it's straight garbage.

Also I'm tried of hearing about Wiggins. The kid plays his high school basketball in Canada. Sorry but he hasn't faced top notch prep talent in my opinion. Plus I've seen the kid play......not that impressed. He's a gunner that won't be able to gun like that in the pros. Especially once defenses figure him out.

No way the Lakers tank with Kobe still in the picture.

To be honest I rather see us do a sign and trade if Dwight is leaving, but make sure we get a good deal. If not let Dwight walk and lose 30 mil if the deal is not right for the Lakers and show them a giant middle finger in the process.

Since when did he play his high school basketball in Canada... HS Player of the Year in America (in Virginia)... last time I checked Virginia wasn't in Canada...

Wiggins is about as sure a thing as it gets. So is Randle btw. And yes he played HS ball in the US last year, not Canada.
