Rondo was perfect for KG and Pierce
D-Won't is not a shot creator
JJ now gets less touches
Brook's foot is a question mark
Along with Kidd proving nothing as a HC
I can't see anyone being threatened by them
They'll be a tough out come playoff time but they don't fit

Like I said before
The Nets are focus on being the talk of New York, like the Jets use to do
The Knicks are focus on going to the NBA Finals
The tables are turning

That's a pretty solid team if they can stay healthy, which is the key to it all.
They still have assets as well, i doubt they are done dealing.

Broussard made a point on the Kay show this afternoon that made sense.
He said that the Nets would wants to limit KG's minutes during the regular season so he'd be fresh for the playoffs. But doing that wouldn't give the team enough floor time together to develop any chemistry - so Kidd will almost be forced to log heavy minutes with KG/Pierce during the regular season, which may leave them gassed by Game 82.
The team looks good on paper and they might have a better roster than the Knicks (which Knicks God correctly said isn't a very high bar right now), but if everything doesn't line up just right they might be in a bad spot by the end of the season.

Re: Woj: Pierce and Garnett to Brooklyn?!?
Neither KG nor Lopez is great in the PNR. It'll definitely be an adjustment for Deron to play with two wing scorers. And it'll be an adjustment for PP and KG to lose an assist machine like Rondo.
I wouldn't be surprised if nobody averages 20 ppg for them.

ctorres wrote:Like I said earlier, there is a major difference between KG and Pierce carrying a team on their back (especially while Rondo was out) and then putting them on the Celtics to where they clearly won't have to. Nets won 49 games last season with Deron, Joe, and Brook as their 3 best players with no real 4th or 5th options. Now you give them Terry, KG, and Pierce who cannot be left open.
Anyways, whatever, I don't feel like arguing today. We'll just wait for next season. If the Nets fail and the Knicks win the championship, then nothing else matters besides that.
Pierce was open a lot and missed badly a lot ... at least come playoff time ... probably, almost certainly, because Father Time eroded his skills.
JET was terrible too until JR woke him up and he finished strong.
KG was better but definitely lacking.
Each guy can do less scoring wise but not that much. Pierce would have to be a major gun for them to be a great team. He doesn't have it left. It doesn't work that way -- old players are old players. They can't just each be shadows of their former selves but that still adds up to a great team.
It might work in baseball better but even then I doubt it. Experienced with a mix of old and young in their prime would work. This is different. Lopez is the only such guy, and he's still their best player.
And PP and KG just lost the best player they played with for the last few seasons. Deron/JJ are not as good or impactful Rondo as of this moment. Comparing Lopez to Rondo is apples and oranges but I'd still rake Rondo over him if I had to choose, and I like Brook a lot.

If the Nets don't make some noise this year, they're going to be hurting. This totally screws their future, although it may make them really good for a year. Pierce will definitely contribute, but Garnett isn't going to be able to play at a high level for long.
SELL THE TEAM, JIM!!!

The nets have a better team than us @ the moment. Grunwald has to get creative and make some trades. If it takes unloading me-lo to bring in better players, DO IT!!!

When you have D-will and joe johnson on your roster, you don't care about the future. Those players were brought to win.

Anyways, I was saying the same thing about the Lakers last year and almost everyone disagreed with me.
This is LAL Summer of 2012 the Sequel ... more or less.

Agree although I think they'll win about 45-50 games. And people are underlooking the problem of Kidd trying to coach a team with a 2-year window. Just a total **** show.

Yeah I think they'll work out better than the Lakers, even I didn't think the Lakers would be that bad. But they won't be dominant or anything close. Disappointing and broken come playoff time, most likely.

Re: Woj: Pierce and Garnett to Brooklyn?!?
Their starting squad is better than ours, I think. Depending on how Kidd coaches, this may be a team to really watch out for. I don't know what to expect, but I'm definitely concerned. I don't see a Lakers situation. I really don't know what to think of this. I'm still getting over the fact that the trade was within the division. It's going to be a tough year for the Knicks if they don't make some improvements somewhere. One thing is for certain, they're going to be a pretty good rebounding team. At least their 3 front court players.

D-Won't is not a shot creator
...I'm not sure if you mean as a isolation creator or a passer but if you are talking passer...You do realize Williams averaged 10 assists per game for the majority of his career with Utah right?
His passing went down because he was asked to be a Westbrook type player on a team with no talent or scorers. When D-Will was first came to the Nets, he actually averaged 12 assists playing with a healthy Lopez, Morrow, Farmar and Humphries before he tore his wrist up.
Now, that we got rid of those Iso loving coaches, he should easily average 10 or close to that. Especially since Kidd is implementing the ball movement system the Knicks used early on.
JJ now gets less touches
That's actually a good thing. He played like 40 minutes and literally carried the team for a few months under Avery/PJ. He got burned out come playoff time by the coaching staff's refusal to develop Marshon Brooks and use CJ Watson as a scorer which is his natural position.
Brook's foot is a question mark
Yes it is but even if Brook went down for 10-12 games, unlike last year with only Blatche as the Center. We would have a much deeper rotation of bigs to replace him with Evans, KG, Blatche, Plumlee.
Along with Kidd proving nothing as a HC
That's the biggest question mark but since Lawrence Frank is back. That's pretty much less of an issue. Kidd will do the rotation, adjustments and all of the in-game speeches stuff while Frank and the rest of the staff work on Xs and Os.
I can't see anyone being threatened by them
You wouldn't be threatened by a team that has a combined 35 all-star appearances in their starting lineup with more pieces to be added?
Oh and Tom Thibodeau openly admitted he hates they ended up here.....So there is that.
They'll be a tough out come playoff time but they don't fit
They do fit which is exactly why so many people are talking about it highly. Statically, it's perfect and that's all we can judge it on until we see it.
1. Deron and Lopez fit regardless. Deron can pick and pop with Lopez (shoots 39% from mid-rage and out), pick and roll with Lopez to the rim (97% at the rim) or just dump it in the post and let him go to work (he shoots 46% in the post).
2. Deron and Garnett can either pick and pop (KG is a 44% jumpshooter), pick and roll (72% at the rim) or just dump it in the post (50% in the post)
3. Brook is a good passer, he can easily Hi-Low with Garnett from the pick and pop or roll and find KG in the post. KG can also do the exact same for Brook and defensively, Brook is a good help shot blocker but not a good defensive communicator on the floor. While KG is easily Top 3. The Celtics defense is basically lives with him on the floor at all times.
4. Pierce is a playmaker, so he can easily run pick and rolls and pops with literally every player in the starting lineup. Pierce had alot of triple doubles last season despite his age. Which is impressive.
5. Pierce likes to shoot threes from the wing left or right while Johnson likes to shoot it from the corner. He's better at it in that position.
TheGarden wrote:Like I said before

Actually, no...We're focused on putting the best talent on the floor and trying to win with it like all teams do. We're the talk of NY just by having the arena open, so there is no need to make moves that cost a 150 million payroll just to have nice newspaper headlines. That doesn't do a thing.
The fact the Nets are the #1 talked about thing is simply because everyone automatically sees this as a championship contender and quite frankly many people have never seen 5 all-stars that are impact players in a New York uniform in their life. It's exciting just to think about for some people.
This was done to give Kidd, Frank more competent pieces to work with after having to play 3 on 5 with Wallace/Evans being two Ronnie Brewer clones and also, instilling the leadership, championship pedigree, nasty persona and straight up defense that the team lacked. Too many nice guys with no 90s personality.
That's why the deal was done. They tried to do the same a year ago with Dwight Howard, D-Will, Joe Johnson, Wallace all on the same team and that fell apart at the very last minute then the same package we offered Boston was offered to Atlanta for Josh Smith and that deal fell apart at the last minute.
So, this was something they were trying to do since last season and the season before. It's no secret and by 2015 or 2016, they will unload all of these contracts and do it again. Ownership will operate this thing like the Yankees do until Deron retires or we strike out on big names in the 2016 sweepstakes.
So, that's what the idea was. We all know injuries are a concern which makes it a risk which is why they are going to try and build a deep bench and run a 11 man rotation for the season.
Not trying to intrude on the Knicks board or anything, just trying to explain our side of the fence or bridge, so to speak.

to play devils advocate this is a team that is an injury away from a very scary place - and Lopez, Garnet, Johnson and even pierce have to be considered injury risks. They lack depth in a big way.
they are also a team of stars being coached by a player with zero experience coaching
and they are a team of players who all want the shot.
if we have a problem with not enough basketballs to go around wont they as well?

I considered all that. They just seem to me a very wildcard team.
