But, what Nate does is bring the single most important quality/talent to the Bulls in their quest to beat the Heat and he might just be the best bargain in the league doing it (at least he was last year). I think the message this sends is worse than the physical act of not signing him. I mean if the Bulls aren't willing to part with the cash to sign the guy who brings shot creation to the roster for the bargain basement price he did/does it for, then how can fans think they would make a major move to improve from here?
I think everyone has their limits. I would guess the Bulls are at their financial limit. Everyone loves the Thunder, but the Thunder gave away James Harden for a bag of crap. We're concerned that we might lose Nate Robinson who's nearly 30 and has had one really successful year in his entire career.
If you think the Bulls will make a major move to improve the team this year then prepare to be disappointed.
I also don't know if the Bulls will use the MMLE (doubt it), but I can see the logic in not signing a fourth PG to a guaranteed deal. I would love to swap out Nate and Hinrich, maybe the Bulls would as well. However, I don't see why you spend the money you have left on Nate Robinson give the number of wings you have vs the number of bigs you have.
Not only that but the reluctance to sign him says something else...
It calls into question whether the FO even knows what this team needs. If they can't see what a HUGE discount it was to hire Nate for the skills he provided for the league minimum (thus making a Nate signing a priority) then doesn't it worry you that they are even considering getting Rose some offensive help? It sure does me...
Why do you think Nate signed here at a discount? He couldn't even get a guaranteed deal anywhere else in the NBA and wasn't exactly tearing of the league before he came here. If anything, the fact the Bulls signed Nate should show you they know exactly what they needed.
