Summer League 2013

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Sat Jun 29, 2013 1:01 am

Any news on any other undrafted free agents we have asked to play with us for the summer league? I see Miami got Myck Kabongo and I thought I'd check on Vander Blue (since I knew we had him in) and it looks like he is playing with Houston in one league and Memphis in another league.

I'm curious to see where Seth Curry will land. Surprising that arguably the best shooter in college basketball wasn't drafted even at the end. My guess is that he is too small to play SG like he did at Duke at just 6'2 and 185 lbs. He did shoot 44% from three this season so someone could use him i'm sure for a potential bench sniper. Just like his dad and brother, he's a ball player, he will be in the league sometime, might as well give him a shot on our summer league team.

So we'll have:

Marshall
Goodwin
Morris
Morris
Oriakhi

On our team?

Could do with some shooters but that should be a pretty good team.

Tom Abercrombie and Chris Babb are all I know of so far. Both athletic guards.

Chris Babb sounds like a good target. Shot 38% on 3s on super high volume this year. 6'5 guard from Iowa St

This article also says that Seth Curry received offers from a number of teams, but isn't healthy enough to play in the summer league.

Tom Abercrombie is flying in from New Zealand to play for our summer league team.

I'm excited to see what Marshall does this year in the Summer League.

Malcom Lee strong, quick and long. Should be able to get out in transition and provide solid defense if his knee holds up. I know he has been passed around but envision this, Goodwin streaking down the floor lobs it up to Lee who proceeds to destroy the rim. I know a little too much, right?

17 bench press tied for 4'th (2 off)
3/4 sprint 3.09 tied for 4'th (.07 off)
wingspan 6.9 and 3/4.

Abercrombie is solid. Has a nice jumpshot, better than average athlete for a white guy, can play some D and doesn't mind getting physical.

We don't have many athletes in NZ basketball, so he stands out as the best.

I'd love for him to stick, but he doesn't have enough athletic ability and isn't a good enough shooter to separate himself out from the flock. Never know though, he actually reminds me of Chandler Parsons

Clearly Malcolm Lee must be a stud since teams were playing hot potato with him during the draft.

Morris x2 are probably not going to play summer league for us, they are entering their 3rd year.

So what? There were no Summer League (lock out) 2 years ago. This will be their second SL.

They need to prove themselves, and since Hornacek is coaching the summer guys, it would be wise of them to play.

I wonder if we bring back some guys from last year's summer squad. Lighty? Milsap(another brother)?

Oladipo as a PG is pretty ridiculous!

Oladipo will be Tony Allen Ceiling!

I say he avg 10/5 his Career with solid defense
