Well, I'm still trying to talk myself into being excited about the pick... I guess if Otto progresses the way most of the other high profile Georgetown grads have done in the NBA, he'll be a tremendous player.
If you look at guys like Monroe, Hibbert, and Green- they all average similar basic stats in the pros as they did in college by their 2nd or 3rd year.
Monroe is maybe the most interesting: His stats from last year (his 3rd) with the Pistons and his last year (his 2nd) with Georgetown are the following:
16 pts, 9.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game with the Pistons,
16.1 pts 9.6 rebounds , and 3.8 assists with Georgetown.
You could make the argument that Monroe is a fair comparison for Otto- both left Georgetown after 2 years, both had similar strengths and weaknesses- good basketball IQ, good but not elite all around skills, good but not elite size, and lack of ideal athleticism.
Otto's basic stats last year at Georgetown? 16 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists. If he's doing that by year 2 or 3, we'll all be pretty happy. Unless of course Alex Len is out in Phoenix dropping 20 and 10 every night.
