Re: Miami Heat Select James Ennis
The HEAT need to begin to search for cheap alternatives. In the next few years, this team will begin a major transformation from its role players;
Mario: FA at season end
Cole: 2 more yrs
Ray: Could be last year
Battier: Could be last year
UD: Older
Rashard & JJ: Retirment
MM: Amnesty or Trade
Joel: Bum
Birdman: 35 yrs old & FA now
Riley needs to find cheap labor to surround the BIG 3. We will also find 1 or 2 vets but in a season, one or two won't make up for the losses of many.

Joel is easily the worst offensive player in the NBA. I can't find another NBA player that has a harder time of catching the ball or making a layup. Bum is strong and its my way of exaggerating his lack of skill. Add in the fact he makes 4million and he would be a minimum signing if he was a free agent now.

Hahaha you must not know the hatred he has for Joel. He is offensively challenged I agree but in short spurts he can be good on defense to throw the other team off. If only his hands werent bricks......

I'm not going to sit here and pretend I know anything about him, or have even seen 2 minutes of him play outside of his highlights, but why bother trading to get this guy now, and giving up future picks, simply to make him go play overseas? Why not just not make any moves at all?
I think we clearly see something in him and want to give him a go. I could be wrong, but as I said, I don't see the point in making a move for the simple reason of just stashing him overseas. Can anyone explain the perks if there are any?
In case he pans out overseas. It costs you nothing and there is a non-zero probability he ends up working out.
Again, I don't see the point.
You can take a pick from any year and hope he pans out. How many of these players that get sent to Europe actually pan out?
I feel the only reason to trade for a second pick when we didn't really have one is if we actually think this guy can contribute.

Ya he was aggressive driving to the basket but mainly at the end of games. I personally wasnt impressed but he kept making the cut over other guys I thought we should have given a chance. All im saying is this is like a job interview you cant just do all the right things; you have to have an edge and stand out from the rest of the pack.

Because you get it earlier.
Lets say it takes a couple of years to pan out. Why not start the clock earlier?
And again usually when a team trades for a pick to take a guy they see something that they specifically like. I had never heard of the guy until we picked him so I don't know specifically what they liked.
Your emotions fuel the narratives that you create. You see what you want to see. You believe what you want to believe. You ascribe meaning when it is not there. You create significance when it is not present.

Re: Miami Heat Select James Ennis
Ennis can play. I don't know if he'll make our roster -- we're exceptionally tight this year. But he's a very interesting prospect. He's a really good athlete, he's a good finisher, he's a good defender, and he's shown the makings of good outside shooting ability.
I think the Heat got a wake up call this postseason. We saw Jimmy Butler, Paul George, Lance Stephenson, and Kawhi Leonard all play huge roles against us. Athletic wingmen that can hit the 3 are vital in today's NBA, and the only real way to get them affordably is by growing your own.
I think we develop Ennis for a year either in the D-league or on our roster, then give him a shot at earning rotation minutes in '14-'15 once Allen and Battier retire.

Re: Miami Heat Select James Ennis
Tim Reynolds last night on that channel 7 sports show said how Ennis can possibly be on the roster in the future, because he can ball and is athletic. Probably will replace Battier or even Ray when they retire.
Our role players are old, and for some of them, this is their last year.

Re: Miami Heat Select James Ennis
I see athleticism but not much quickness in his moves. Maybe this is why he went in the late 2nd round. Now this doesn't mean he can't make it in this league. If he works on his foot work and lateral movement, he could have a defensive role in this league a la Butler, Bowens etc. I do think he needs a couple of seasons of work with our coaches. Not sure if he is worth a roster spot at this time. I guess Summer League will tell the story.

Something worth noting is Ennis has great rejumpability. IOW, he jumps really quickly, and can make multiple efforts. I believe Wade has this too, which is why he can grab so many of his own misses in traffic. He can get back up to contest as well. With his length, I hope that translates well. I'm not getting my hopes up though. He's still the 50th pick for a reason. He's gonna need lots of work to make an impact.

Man James Ennis looks like such a great humble kid, he's answering every Heat fan that tweets him saying "thank you" over and over again, re-twtting stuff that people ask him, calling random fans "sir" and promise them he'll work hard, Just looks very appreciative and humble.
I really want him to get a chance and do great.

Sorry, but I love this "word"

Hopefully he remain humble and hard working. I would love to see us hit on another Haslem, Chalmers etc... we are due!

Re: Miami Heat Select James Ennis
So far, I really like this guy
The biggest thing I've seen is that he lets the game come to him. Even during Summer League where most are trying to shoot and be seen, Ennis is getting what the defense is giving. Solid Jumper, decent handle but needs to work on defense and you can see he has no strength right now.
