Other post from that article

To Dumars, though, the need for more athletic perimeter players was more pressing the need for a true point guard. Though the Pistons have Brandon Knight, the comment on him is generally that he can be a point guard or a shooting guard.

A athletic wing is far bigger need than the person running your offense!? Knight haters are far more concerned about him than the FO apparently.

“More so than an endorsement, it’s really [that] we needed to … start getting wing athletes with the Pistons,” Dumars said. “The hardest teams for us to match up against the past couple years – athletic teams that get out and play … We struggled with those teams, and it was time to address that.”

Dumars said that not drafting a true point guard was not so much a comment on Knight’s ability in that spot as it was a comment on the desperate need for more length and athleticism.

This quote could be taken 2 ways, but obviously the need for wing is far bigger than need for a point.

i honestly think all these reports are BS. If Joe says 1,2,3 are available for upgrade, then why is knight not being made available in Bledsoe talks, and if we aren't giving up knight, what's the point in going after bledsoe? Actually knowing joe, he's probably creating all this hype for jarret jack and jj hickson.

Because Bledsoe isn't actually an upgrade? I think he'd be more of a replacement for Stuckey than Knight.

I don't want Calderon back. For every point or dish he contributes, the opposing PG blows by him to make it back.

Wasn't he a net negative whenever he was on the floor whenever he played with our starters? I remember reading some stat sheet about that, while Knight was an overall plus.

Give it up man. Knight has no future here as a starter. Your GM practically spelled it out for you.

Whatever happens in and trades this offseason is entirely impossible to foresee or predict. Personally, I'd like to roll with pretty much the team we've got - adding a couple good (not great) veterans: a point guard to play off the bench behind Knight and Stuckey, and then to take over when we trade Stuckey for a draft pick, and a big man to take over from Kravstov unless Slava proves he can play in this league.

I'd like to play Middleton, Singler and Mitchell.

I'd like to trade CV at the deadline, but never play him. I like JJ a lot, but I'm hoping Mitchell makes him obsolete so we can trade him too. I really want future draft picks for Stuckey, CV and JJ.

Mostly, I just want to systematically develop all of our young players.

Your just upset we didn't go after burke or mcw, which would have been the smartest, cost effective and popular majority vote. If PG is ever a need, it would be the immediate need, apparently its not to the FO. Knight is also not available for trade. Knight has the ability to play point guard, was our starting point guard at the end of the season and you can't argue that

totally agree. Also i find it interesting that ppl want bledsoe to be point yet if you watch him play he's more of a scorer than point guard

I've always liked Jack as a PG. He has a solid overall game. Not among the elite, but a solid rotation player. Hickson doesn't seem a big need for the Pistons. A proven SF seems more in order.

24 million for the 31 year old point guard who was a defensive liability when he was at his best!?!

I wouldn't sign a PG over 27 years old for anything in excess of 5 million. Calderon at best is a stop-gap. At 6 million per year at 31, he would be an untradable albatross until his final year.

Still better than Knight at point guard. I think he is worth resigning. I'm not sure if your in the group that wants to start winning games or keep the tank rolling. I think the Pistons need him back. I can't watch another failed season of Knight at PG.
