Andrew Bynum

Post#1 » by spearsy23 » Sun Jun 30, 2013 3:05 am

Note: this is completely contingent on Philly saying 'we'd rather get something, anything! For him than nothing."

How confident are we that the team is better off without Perkins? Not with an average center, not an okay rebounder, just...gone? Would we be willing to take that gamble if there was an opportunity for a significant payout? Let's say Bynum doesn't have any significant offers, a fleeting chance that is almost unthinkable, but let's pretend. Our moveable assets at this time include perry jones, our own 2014 first round pick, a future Dallas pick and, of course, future 2nd's.

My thinking is, if we could offer a combination of those assets, combined with Perkins as salary filler for Andrew Bynum on a 3 year contract with a team and player option for year 3 at the same rate as perkin's current ontract, how enticing would that be for both us and a rebuilding Philly? Is that a calculated risk or being foolhardy and star-struck?

I really don't know how to feel about Bynum right now. On one hand, its a potential steal and huge upgrade that could help both teams. What worries me is both the injury history and the fact that he doesn't seem like a great locker room guy. Not like a Blatche knuckleheaded thing, just kind of doesn't care at times, and along with the injury I worry about signing him. As insane as it sounds, I almost like it better to attempt to use MLE money on a guy like Greg Oden. Injury history is awful I know, but he could possibly contribute, and if Perk were still around he could be called on if worse came to worse. I'm pretty sure I could be talked into Bynum, but rigt now I just don't know what to make of the guy.

i rather sign and trade for Dalembert. Would want someone to be present for most game at least.

Who is Milwaukee going to accept that we're willing to part with? They seem reluctant to tank making Perkins a bigger negative than he would be on a team like Philly. I don't think we have necessary win now assets we can part with unless they're interested in Martin (can you s&t guys for each other?), but I don't think Martin would be willing to go to mil and it'd put us over the tax unless they accepted Perkins too. We almost have to find a tank team if we're unloading perk for something productive.

Boston shouldn't have a lot of use for Wilcox if they're tanking, is there anything we could offer to entice them?

There is basically 2 trades for Bynum I see working for the OKC cap wise:
Perkins, Adams, PJ3, Roberson, Okc 1st, Dallas pick
and
Perkins, Collison(likely to a 3rd team for a 2nd), Adams, OKC 1st, Dallas Pick
Ask yourself this for the first trade, since Adams, PJ3, and Roberson are all likely not going to be rotation players with the current lineup, is downgrading Perkins to Thabeet, really going to make the team worse?
Do the same for the 2nd team, is downgrading for Perkins and Collison to Thabeet, Roberson and PJ3, going to make the team worse?
They could both decide to retire tomorrow and OKC is still a top 2 team in the west. What is OKC with them? A top 2 team in the west. Perkins and Collison are not difference makers in a series at all and that's all that really matters.

At 2 years 14 per, Bynum is on guranteed for just as long as Perkins and Collison. 2 million more per for a guy that if healthy is a top 3 center. Where is the real financial risk, since Perkins and Collison aren't different makers?

So the calculated risk to me is Adam's and 2 1st for Bynum. To me the odds are greater that Bynum is healthy atleast for the playoffs one of the next 2 years, than it is for Adams or either first to have the same impact Bynum would over the course of their rookie deal.

I don't think they would take back Perkins tbh. While Perkins would be good as a veteran to mentor Sanders/Henson he's definitely overpaid and they might want some serious compensation for that.

I don't think Martin would want to move to Milwaukee. Not too sure abt double S&T.

There's really not much places that can accomodate his salary unless it's part of a 3 way.

Andrew Bynum would be sick with the Thunder! Heat vs. Thunder with Bynum. 8-)

Not if Perkins is still on the roster. Bynum would be good for OKC, however I fear for his health. Bynum will demand alot of money in FA. So it won't be possible to sign him...

Don't want him. He does not work out or care about the game.
