Welcome Troy Daniels

Post#1 » by Logander » Sun Jun 30, 2013 12:57 am

Since no one has made a page about this guy I figured I'd do it.

Horncats signed VCU star and 3-point specialist Troy Daniels. Can't wait to watch him play in the summer league. Kid has got a great stroke on him.

I know this video looks like it was filmed with a toaster but if you look at all these guys shots you'll see he can definitely shoot from NBA range. Great pick-up for us I think.

Another video of his 3-point ability.

Also won the 3-point contest this year.

On a side note I know we signed him for the Summer League but I figured I'd make a page for him.

Might as well make one for Tritche, who was also signed to the SL team.

We need a shooting specialist. Would be interesting if he turned out like Anthony Morrow who had a few really good shooting seasons in the NBA.

I agree, I feel like hes got potential. If he turned out anything like Morrow I would be excited. I don't know who Tritche is but it doesn't sound like a bad idea to make a page for him. After-all they are on the team in a way, even if its just for the summer.

the internet claims he is 6-4, 200lbs. is that legit? with that size and stroke you would think he was 2nd round material at worst. makes me think he is more like 6-2.

6'3.75 without shoes 6'5.75 with shoes...that's legit size and a sweet stroke I really hope he can stick.

I think he has a good chance of sticking as a specialist. As a 12th or 13th man. Who knows maybe he can slowly become a more all around player, but I think his shooting should be consistent from the look of things.

Plus he played for VCU, you have to be able to run and play defense to play minutes for them.

there was some awesome shooting in that first video. A true dead eye shooter is always handy.

^Turtle's a FA though. We've got like 5 spots open so I think it's at least possible we keep an UDFA or two.

I was actually hoping for a shooter (Scott Wood, Seth Curry, etc), so this is cool with me.

Our last couple "three-point specialists" in Hammer and Reggie couldn't even shoot threes. Man I want Seth Curry to prove everyone wrong.

Apparently Troy did a pair of workouts with the Pacers, he said they called him back to see how he handled running the point (poor DJ). He also did workouts with Utah, Houston, Boston, and the Brooklyn Combine.

Seems like a hard worker, good head on his shoulders, acknowledges that his place in the league would be as a 3&D guy. As of right now we have a shortage of wings and shooters, so perhaps he has a shot (NPI).

Troy Daniels should get a shot at the end of the bench as a 3rd string point guard, him & Brandon Triche. I'm not really thrilled with neither, but depth is necessary. I don't think the Bobcats should roll the dice without legitimately having somebody behind Kemba Walker & Ramon Sessions like they did last season
