Knight would come off the bench not the other way around.

Re: Pops Plan to make the Playoffs
This isn't a plan that I want, but one that I can see Joe D having a lot of interest in
Waive
Rodney Stuckey
Free Agency
Sign Monta Ellis- 4/45 deal- Ellis seems like a Joe D guy, he's a wing, he's athletic and he's a solid shooter. I can see Joe convincing himself that MIL misused him and that Cheeks could turn him back into GSW Ellis (which is a Russel Westbrook type player)
Sign Andre Igoudala- 4/45 deal. Igoudala is a do it all F who plays defense, rebounds and can run the offense. He could be a solid addition to the team and be its veteran leader
Sign Eric Maynor- 3/10 deal. Sign Maynor to be our backup PG. He's got solid court vision and is an adequate defender. Id like to bring him in for cheap
2013-2014 Pistons
Knight/Maynor/Siva
Ellis/KCP/English
Igoudala/Singler/Middleton
Monroe/Mitchell/Jerebko/CV
Drummond/Slava
This is a lineup that takes us into the playoffs, which I think Joe D and Gores are desperate for. But its also a lineup that can lock us into mediocrity for the next 4 years as the new Milwaukee Buck-esque team.

Re: Pops Plan to make the Playoffs
I agree Green should be the first option at SF, if he is available, and Boston is ready to dump salary, i would also take Lee and Bass, if neccesary to get it done, good role players.
But Collison really? the guy who Carlisle benched in favor of 39- year old Mike James?
The pistons are not going into next season with Brandon Knight at starting PG. I think this is also a reason that Dumars didnt draft Burke, he wants a veteran PG to lead us back to the playoffs.
My first option would still be Calderon (Jack would be even better), it would seem to be the best option for the next 2-3 years until Knight proves to be ready to be a starting PG or until a better PG is available. Teague would probably be the best longterm FA PG to go after, but restricted free agency is tricky, and i doubt Dumars could pull this off.
Monta is just suicide, overspending on Iggy or Smith, who are both bad fits with Monroe and Dre is just stupid too, i am glad the Pistons are ready to spend, but spending it on the wrong guys can set back the franchise for years.
Half the league has significant capspace, this and Dumars fighting or his job could be a recipe for disaster, i'd much rather would make a big trade with Boston par example to get this team back to the playoffs.

Re: Pops Plan to make the Playoffs
For this team on court Jarrett Jack sucks. He does too much hero ball and is not as good as he thinks he is. He would provide toughness and leadership which i LIKE. but at what cost?
and about the Iggy/Monta signings being Milwaukee esque, MIL wishes theyd have that lineup

a knight and ellis backcourt would not work. and too much money for a small combo guard

When did Jeff Green join Denver or has Jeff Green replaced the board's obsession with unrealistic Wilson Chandler trades?
Boston hasn't started dumping salary. They just took on the remaining 3 years and $30M of Gerald Wallace's deal. If they are going to start dumping salary, that is where they will start.
Well to Piston fantasy land.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Re: Pops Plan to make the Playoffs
This is my offseason plan based on signing Josh Smith as our marquee FA
1) Josh Smith. (S&T- Stuckey for Smith- not sure of the rules but I read that ATL wants to work a S&T- I don’t think they have anybody on the wing so I think they could take a chance on Stuckey since he’s also an EC) Get Josh to come start at SF and get all the available backup PF minutes. A Trio of Smith/Monroe/Drummond is easily the best bigman rotation in the league.
2) Trade Kyle Singler to MEM for a 2014 top 20 protected first rounder or a second rounder. I could see Singler commanding a late first in the draft. I remember Houston traded Chase Buddinger for the #18 pick and I think Singler has more value than Chase. I like SIngler but I think he’s a solid trade chip and would like to get some value for him especially if we sign a wing this offseason. Memphis needs shooting so I think this is a solid fit.
3) Trade Jonas Jerebo to anyteam for cap relief and/or a 2nd
4) Sign Martell Webster to play the 2/3
Rotation
Jose Calderon(28)/Brandon Knight(20)
Brandon Knight(12)/KCP(20)/Martell Webster(16)
Josh Smith(16)/Martell Webster(16)/ Khris Middleton(16)
Greg Monroe(16)/Josh Smith(18)/Charlie V(14)
Andre Drummond(30)/Greg Monroe(18)/Slava Kravstov
I think this team is pretty good. We have guys who score on the perimeter (Calderon, Knight, KCP, Webster, Middleton, CV) we’ve got guys who score in the paint (Monroe, Drummond, Smith). We’ve got great defenders (Drummond, Smith, Knight). We can play small (Calderon/Knight/Webster/Smith/Monroe), We can play big (Knight/Webster/Smith/CV/Drummond).
Siva, English and Mitchell stay on the inactive reserve unless guys get injured

Re: Pops Plan to make the Playoffs
Atlanta has Lou Williams, Stuckey make absolutely no sense to them, It would be a lot easier to work a S&T with Washington involving Stuckey and Martell Webster instead of Atlanta and Josh Smith if you want to get rid of Stuckey imo.
