Just because he donated his salary once, that doesn't automatically mean that he doesn't care about money at all.

MWP lost nearly a year's salary because of the brawl and then he offered to donate his entire salary in 2008 to keep Rick Adelman as head coach in Sacramento. In 2011, he raffled off his 2010 Lakers ring and gave several hundred thousand dollars of the proceeds to mental health/awareness and then he offered to donate his entire salary for 2011-12. Despite that, when he becomes a free agent he maximizes the amount of money that he can make.

Even if you're kind at heart, if you want to give a lot away, you have to make a lot first.

I'm not saying Kirilenko won't come here, but citing the fact that he donated one year of his salary doesn't mean he'll choose us over cash especially when the disparity betweeb what we can offer and how much he can potentially make is so great.

He is never going to come here for the minimum. You guys made the "donated money to charity argument last year."

And hes not even gonna get burn here.

Agree with this and this is the argument I made last off season too.

Opting out is a surprise for me, but I'm not confident we can pay him. Unless, Proky has ways to convince him to take less money & get compensated in other ways.

AK47 will definitely fit well in this team as the first forward off the bench... We could only dream.

Yep, he'd not going to take the MMLE to come off the bench for us.

Obviously if we could get him, we should jump at the chance, he's the best player we could hope to sign and a guy who could defend at the 3 and 4 would fill a critical need for us.

That may have been me and I apologize if that's the case. Still though, he's going to get a lot more money elsewhere than what we can offer him.

is money an issue?

he has said in the past its not.

he has shown in the past its not.

is it an issue for him now? not sure.

Kirilenko may not care about money, but his agent sure does, he gets the percentage after all.

Unless he really wants a ring and buys into the idea the Nets can get him one I doubt we'll snag him.

If Pierce can play 2-guard, a Deron/Pierce/Kirilenko/KG/Lopez line-up would be a sick two-way team.

Or if Pierce would be 6th man and Joe Johnson would spot-up for threes.

Trying to think this one out for myself as well.

Corey Brewer is suited for high up tempo team. his shooting has improved the last couple of years however i think Kirilenko is a better fit, high basketball iq, passing ability and length.

the length of ak47 @ the 3 and KG and Lopez at 4 and 5 would bother a lot of team.

He opt out because he want a long deal for the same amount, the exact deal that GWallace has, and this year FA sucks, so he knows he maybe can get that.

You can't sign him lol.

This is delusional

Well, the reason why Nets fans are looking at AK as an option is because he has an extensive history with Prokhorov and we also know that he actually considered us last off season when we only offered him the vet minimum. Nothing delusional about thinking that there's a chance he would take the MMLE to play on a contender team for an ownership he knows well.
