IF there's no 1st in the deal AND if Bargs recovers and can get back to being at least a productive player, getting him without giving up a first is way Way WAY better than getting two very old farts for THREE firsts.

Just saying.

The Knicks will also send two future second-round picks to Toronto, sources said.

I have a theory that people are overreacting to this so much because Bargnani was a draft bust. We gave up two guys who didn't even touch the floor in the playoffs for a decent offensive player (although I hate that we also gave up a pick).

If Bargnani had the exact same stats, but was a 2nd round pick in '06, I would bet anything that the reaction wouldn't be this negative. He gets a ridiculously bad rap because he never lived up to being the overall 1st pick.

Minus the pick (s) this is a nice deal. Anyone thinks Novak / Camby have potential to contribute more over next 2 years isn't thinking straight. Bargs is soft etc etc, lets get that all out of our system and then realize that he at least can, if healthy, be on the floor and have an impact of his own on the court. How much, we shall see.

Not of course a fan of the picks though... But I do enjoy the 7 mill that'll come off the books a year earlier, and I suspect we all will in 2 years.

Nooooo-brainer then.

We just got back a guy better than Gallo and gave up nothing much.

Not even close. Gallo is a better rebounder, passer, shooter, defender, and not nearly as soft...so, everything.

He's also more athletic. I can't really think of anything that Bargnani does better than Gallo. Maybe the mid-range J?

Let's look at the positives

He is like 7'1 and can get his shot off anywhere
He is a taller and better Novak

Teams have to guard him

We lose a tr of Novak salary

i have no issue taking on bargs

I HAVE A HUGE ISSUE GIVING THEM CAP RELIEF AND PICKS

WE'RE THE ONE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO GET PICKS IN RETURN FOR TAKING ON GARBAGE CONTRACTS

i know there's a knicks fan ritual of rationalizing awful moves/picks after a stretched period of time but i'm just going to bypass all that and commit suicide tonight.

Bargs is a very very good three point shooting big
Bargs is an ok rebounder and shot blocker when in position

Bargs isnt a bad passer
Bargs isnt terrible making a shot fake and drive

I only inject these notes because hes done it to us as a craptor tons of times
perhaps he can be slightly more useful to us than Camby on the bench and Novak nowhere to be found

hell, his D and rebounding arent as bad as novak. thats something

Last two seasons from 3.

2011-12: .296

2012-13: .309

Average 3 rebounds a game last season.

wow

ok
Im chalking that up to some nightmare situation in Toronto where hes bood every time hes on the court and therefor doesnt care to play hard

Ive seen him shoot and rebound and defend and he certainly can do all three

Bargnani way better than people here think if he's right.

RealGM is a very what-have-you-done-lately group of people. I understand that. But wait and see. Yeah he's coming off a bad season. Very bad. That's why he's available.

His peak was very good and he's in his prime years. And he has had some great games at MSG. He'll love playing in NY.

Much more reliable as the 2nd option if he can get back to form. Much more reliable than Just Regressed.
