I would be surprised if Iggy signs a 3y or 4yr deal with the Pistons...The Mavs seem like a better veteran fit for him...

I think this is a largely moot point.

Its a sellers market for free agents right now given the number of teams with money to spend. We would have to grossly overpay to get him and even if we offered a crippling contract we still might not come out on top of the sweepstakes.

I could be wrong but that's what it looks like to me right now.

So should we not even make an attempt?

Brandon Knight/Calderon
Arron Afflalo/KCP
Andre Iguodala/Khris Middleton
Greg Monroe/ Tony Mitchell
Andre Drummond/slava kravtsov

That team would be good defensively and would have the shooters Monroe and Drummond need. Sadly I don't think either team would do this now...

KCP is our starting 2 regardless.

I like Iggy but Afflao/Iggy isnt the best shooting unit, Iggy is a good shooter but streaky. If he is gonna be our 3 our 2 must be lights out like KCP is.

Toss in the fact that this is "spin season" for players' agents. We always hear a dearth of rumors that never pan out league-wide right now.

If Joe did offer Iggy a "cap crippling" contract, I would at least hope he front loaded it, so he became more cap friendly as his contract progressed and his production declined.

David Aldridge ‏@daldridgetnt 51m
Pistons looking hard at Nuggets free agent forward @Andre, according to league sources. Story up soon on http://NBA.com .

With Sam Amico reporting "mutual interest", it's more than likely we'll make an offer (whether AI accepts is another thing).

As I mentioned last week, @daldridgetnt reports Pistons interested in Andre Iguodala. Interest, I'm hearing, mutual. DA has story coming.

If the interest is mutual that sounds promising.

I think he'll be a Piston soon enough.

I think it will come down to us or the Nuggets. Hopefully he chooses us, Dumars is usually a good sell. I just want to see this team as an Athletic defensive squad that runs on offense.

iggy is going to be greatly sought after, but im liking the way its sounding right now. aldridge specifically mentioned us, and no one else, but you have to think there is quite a few teams in need of a SF.
pelicans, kings, mavs, hawks, cavs all have cap space and a need at SF. but to know were going hard at him is a very very good thing

Of course we should try.

We should be trying anyone we think might help our team. I'm just not feeling all that optimistic. (when am I?)
