The only way you're right is if we turned around and traded him for 14/21. Nevertheless I trust Joe's judgment.

No we shouldn't have. People are too in love with Burke because of his ties to Michigan. He's an undersized PG with limited athleticism. Will he be a solid starting PG? Could be. Will he be a franchise changer? I highly doubt it. KCP was a solid pick all around.

I wouldve taken Burke over Caldwell, but if we can end up getting a PG like Rondo or Bledsoe then I'm glad we waited on the PG position. Caldwell can always be a good shooter/defender off the bench worst case. This way we keep the option open of getting an even better PG than Burke. Plus last thing we needed if trying to win next year was starting a rookie PG.

My thoughts on this are around Knight. If we got Burke, we might still be trying to play Knight at starting SG. I'd much rather have him at pg, so I'm glad we got KCP. IMHO, I think he is a solid starting SG for many years, probably starting with this one.

I also think Burke will become the starting PG for Utah this year and will have a good pro career, but glad we got KCP instead.

Taking ComboGuard's bait, what would we have done with 14 and 21? Shabazz and Hardaway Jr? I'd prefer KCP.

This is definitely not going away. Just like a lot of Toronto fans want the Terrence Ross/Andre Drummond thing to go away. It's not going away as long as Drummond keeps looking good and Ross keeps looking meh.

In our case the only players that can make this go away are KCP/Brandon Knight by playing very well or Trey Burke by falling flat on his face. I'm hoping KCP can put together a nice summer league because this won't be a fun place to hangout if he doesn't.

Joe D took a hit of backlash, which is all the backlash Trey Burk would have recieved had he not lived up to many people's expectations of him saving the PIston's franchise. Joe D has some big balls for that.

This Burke kid had more hype than Austin Rivers going into this draft. I would love for Burke to turn out to be a great player but it wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t. To all of those who wanted Burke to be a Piston you should be satisfied with Siva. I would have been ecstatic with one of McElmore, Bennett, or Oladipo but we all knew none of them was going to be there at 8. KCP was the way to go.

This topic is original. I wonder why nobody thought of this discussion before today. Just in case though, I'm going to check the other threads that seem to have Burke's name mentioned 1000s of times.

Show me one post before the draft advocating for Pope at eight. The only ones saying this now are homers and/or delusional.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Will Pope be a franchise changer? I'd be willing to bet Burke has a better NBA career, franchise changer or not.

 Says a guy who rarely ever visits this board. How about you take the time to read the "big board thread" or the 3 draft threads. Nobody has anything to prove to you.

Always go with BPA. I felt Burke was better, and I think he'll show it this year. Sad that Joe D passed on him, and believe that it WILL come back to haunt us. With that said, KCP has a chance to be a very good SG. He won't be a perennial all star, but I think he will be a good scorer and defender for a long time.

This is going to get even uglier in a few years.

Burke is a stud, people that talk about him being undersized are just ignorant, his measurements are pretty close to CP3, but more important, his game while different, it's also close.

Burke will be worse on defense, CP3 is the best defensive PG, but he'll be solid, but on offense, he'll be similar, he needs to work on finishing around the basket, but he'll get it.

At least he'll have a career similar to Tim Hardaway, Caldwell-Pope whereas, will be only another shooting wing.

I can't wait for next year when the thread, "We should have drafted Glen Robinson III" comes out. Seriously, get over it people. Dude was passed over and traded in a weak draft, we werent the only team concerned about his weaknesses.

Don't complain that you want to see this team improve and then cry about selecting Pope who not only gives us a shooter to surround Drum and Monroe but also defense. Burke cant guard the pick n roll to save his life.

KCP is an advanced stats monster. I'm starting to put more faith in them after seeing what teams like Houston and Memphis are doing since they embraced them.

Burke is going to be a nice player, and a swell fit for the Utah Mormons, but his ceiling isn't anywhere near Pope's. Sadly, his ceiling isn't even on par with MCW.
