Camby to Miami for Battier (expiring). Perfecto! They get a Centre, Camby keeps his title hopes alive, and we get an expiring we can waive.

I think it's safe to assume that we'll be getting a new back-up point guard now that Lucas is gone and the Nets possibly grabbing Telfair.

They're not going to give up Battier for Camby when they get more production out of Chris Andersen who is way cheaper.

They need bigs. Battier is expendable so using him to add a big body isn't the worst idea for them.

I would kill for a deal that sends Novak or Camby in exchange for someone like Lamb or PJ3 as unlikely as it might be I want to dream that OKC rather take care of a niche than develop a rook...ahh what a sweet dream

Any contending teams in need of a dead-eye 3 pt shooting specialist with a draft pick to give us?

With Charlotte apparently being interested in Al Jefferson and listening to offers for MKG, it appears they are looking to "accelerate the rebuild". Time for Masai to do what he does best and swoop in for the kill.

To TOR: Tyrus Thomas, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Brendan Haywood, 2014 First round pick (via Detroit), 2014 second round pick (31-35 protected).

To CHA: Rudy Gay, Quincy Acy, cash considerations.

So Toronto goes back into the tank (if Masai chooses this route, of course) gaining some nice expiring contracts for the 2015 Free Agency, a very nice prospect in MKG (we all know what he is capable of) as well as a strong 2014 first rounder (with Detroit pursuing Josh Smith, they should be good enough to not be bottom 8 and thus convey the pick to us). We can then swing DeRozan and Lowry for more assets if we so choose and tank to our hearts content.

Charlotte gets a borderline first option to pair with the upandcoming Kemba Walker, while also retaining their felxibility in terms of expiring contracts, having Ben Gordon to possibly dangle in an attempt to get Al Jefferson or someone of the sort. They still likely aren't good enough to make the playoffs, so we get a decent second round pick out of it.

Who says no?

If we somehow landed Bledsoe (with Butler for DeRozan), I wonder if the Sixers would be interested in Lowry for Turner.

I'm not sure how ready MCW is, as I didn't follow him in college, but Lowry could be a nice piece for them in the meantime. Then maybe they could chase a young SG like Evans or Mayo in free agency.

We could run with:

Bledsoe/FA/
Turner/Ross/Q
Gay/Novak/Butler/Fields
Amir/FA/Acy
Valanciunas/Gray/Camby?

Tank times at Air Canada high.

I was thinking Lowry for Turner as well. Lowry plays at home, basically, in Philly, has a big contract year, and at that point, Philly can decide to either re-sign Lowry, or let Carter-Williams take the reigns.

Turner gets a change of scenery, where he'll have the ball in his hands quite a bit, and has the perfect P'n'R mate with him, in Jonas Valanciunas.

Its hard to say if Philly would be interested, my guess is they are full on tank mode. Gay + Lowry need to be packaged for a collection of terrible contracts and a lottery pick in 2014 & 2015. Sacramento is a good fit I think...

I figure keeping Rudy for at least another season is a good PR move, considering he was just acquired. Plus, if we strike out on Wiggins, we could potentially re-sign Rudy to a reasonable contract and still be set at small forward. (Assuming he doesn't LaMarcus Aldridge us and demand a trade to a contender).

But Rudy gets paid a ton and he would be our first option on offense. That might be enough to keep him happy.

If we are going into full tank mode, we might as well do it well.

Detroit: Rudy Gay
Toronto: Charlie V, Rodney Stuckey, 2014 1st

The Detroit pick was sent to Charlotte but its top 8 protected, im not sure if it's possible, but can Detroit make it that if its top 8 it comes to Toronto?

L.A.: DeMar DeRozan
Toronto: Caron Butler, Eric Bledsoe

Dallas: Kyle Lowry
Toronto: Shawn Marion, 2014 1st

Again, the issue here is that Dallas's pick is supposed to go to OKC, but its 1-20 protected, if it lands in 1-20, can Toronto get it?

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradecheck ... de/6299199

We tank through the 2013-2014 season, with the contracts of Caron Butler, Charlie V, Rodney Stuckey, Shawn Marion, Aaron Gray, Linas Kleiza coming off the books.

Our salary commitments in 2014 become

Amir Johnson - 7,000,000
Landry Fields - 2,500,000 (Stretch provision)
Valanciunas - 3,678,360
Terrence Ross - 2,793,960
Quincy Acy - 915,243
Eric Bledsoe - 3,726,965
Steve Novak - 3,445,947
Marcus Camby - 1,025,890 guaranteed of 4,177,208

Total SALARY - 25,086,365

We could also decline Amir Johnsons's team option for 7 million which would bring us down to just over $18 million in salary going into the off-season. And we would have 3 First Round draft picks in the 2014 draft. Seems like a perfect way to rebuild in one year essentially.

We cant sign him outright and i don't really see what we could offer Utah in a sign and trade.

It's hard to think of any deals without knowing what Masai is really looking to do based on the direction of the team. The Bargnani trade didn't indicate anything... it could be tank-mode or simply getting the shooter that Casey wanted and shedding salary, while getting draft picks.

Masai is definitely keeping his cards close to his chest with his moves... the Bargnani deal came out of nowhere really... we were all discussing DeMar or Bargnani to LAC for Bledsoe, then all of a sudden it's reported that Bargnani is going to the Knicks.

I thought we'd go after Millsap in a S&T, but that was really BC's guy... BC publicly talked about how much he liked Millsap.

But, since it's known that Masai really likes Bledsoe, I will bring up a trade that I was thinking about back during the regular season:

Bledsoe for Ross straight up... we have duplication at the 2, so one of those guys are going to have to go eventually, and they're both almost the same age. I think LAC is going to look to get Mayo first, if they strike out on him, then they'll revisit the Bledsoe-for-a-SG talks. Doc wants to add to the team without losing anyone.... only way to do that is through FA.

Bargs Trade Foreshadows DeRozan + Novak To Clips?

Post#639 » by Purple+Black » Mon Jul 1, 2013 8:05 pm

Nothing concrete, but just a good notion that there's more to this Bargs-Knicks trade than meets the eye, we've forgotten about the 'significant' interest we had in Bledsoe, and he hasn't yet been traded.

If Ujiri is still after his man, and L.A was interested in Bargnani/DeRozan, then there is just no way they would pass up DeRozan + Novak, this trade completes their team and would be an ideal scenario for them over Afflalo.

Toronto Sends: DeRozan, Novak

Receives: Bledsoe, Butler, Bullock

I was thinking this sane thing last night. Bullock might be pushing it though.
