Re: Pistons meeting with Tyreke Evans
I'm honestly not sure what you guys expected.
What we really need is a perimeter player who can defend, shoot the ball from range, and create offense for us.
There's nobody on that list. Flawed fits are all there is, and given the fact that the team is more or less under the gun, you can bet we'll sign SOMEONE, whether it be Iggy, Evans, Ellis, etc.

I don't know whats going on around here, but the first 20 or so hours of free agency haven't been very encouraging. these guys have had a year to plan for this and Smoove and Reke is what they've come up with?
im going to have patience and see how it plays out, but wow, getting those two would be my worst case scenario.

Re: Pistons meeting with Tyreke Evans
AT LEAST one that makes all the sense in the world.
Perfect pair next to Knight, can slide to the SF when KCP enters from the bench, playmaker, can be a prettygood defense, room to improve...
And his age is perfect to grow with the core of the team, not like Iggy.
Add a SF that can defend and shot from 3pt, Webster or Corey Brewer, and a PG that can create like Augustin.
Knight-Augustin-Siva
Evans-KCP-English
Brewer-Singler-Middleton
Monroe-Villanueva-Mitchell
Drummond-Kravtsov
Trade everyone else for whatever they give you.

I guess I'm a little unclear about what you expected.
We've known for over a year that these were the guys who were going to be available. What did you expect to happen if you're only just feeling the disappointment now? No amount of planning is going to make different players available.

Re: Pistons meeting with Tyreke Evans
Can someone explain to me why the hell is Joe D trying to sign every single free agent that can't shoot at all when what we need the most is shooters around Drummond and Monroe?

Um yeah. We need floor spacers in the worst way, so let's check on some dudes that can't shoot at all. Perfection

I love how everyone complains about meetings. We haven't signed anyone yet! Pop a pill and relax.

I expected him to go after the players that actually fit well with our team, like Iggy, Milsap, or Mayo, not terrible fits like Smith and Evans.

Re: Pistons meeting with Tyreke Evans
We also need guys who can create offense.
I'm not saying I'm at all interested in Evans but you guys act like all we need is spacing.

Re: Pistons meeting with Tyreke Evans
Joe is basically interested in everybody. He's the nerdy kid at the middle school dance - because he knows nobody wants him, but somebody will have to eventually slum it here or end up without a dance partner.
Evans is a RFA, meaning we can't make an offer and have it tied up by the Kings while other players sign elsewhere. We'd have to wait until he is renounced with the Kings needing his cap hold to spend elsewhere. OR we could sign-and-trade here if we have something the Kings would like. I wouldn't trade Knight though, Stuckey they could have.

Re: Pistons meeting with Tyreke Evans
Evans isn't horrible but is much like Stuckey in a lot of ways as a slashing scorer that isn't overly efficient I can see why he'd be an unpopular choice.
Part of me wonders if Joe D is out there trying to drive up the price of FA's for other teams... Maybe find out what the Pelicans are offering and offer a little more so Evans can go back and try to get more money.
