Sorry but I find it funny how You guys want everything the Warriors have but you guys got him for a center on bum knees and a 2nd round pick. Barnes, Thompson, Bogut picks ain't happening and it'd be a shame if it did. I guess it's just the Laker way.......

In response to the Laker fan in the previous thread... a bad PR move is a bad statement. You make the best basketball decision and if Dwight wants to go to the Bay then you make a trade instead of letting him bolt for nothing. Of course the LAL will say they arent interested in a S&T prior to FA. Why give anyone hopes of landing Dwight and opening negotiations? I know you guys are used to hosing other teams in trade negotiations, but your not getting Klay and Barnes, lol. You can respond with no deal, but ultimately we offer your team the best deal. There is no need for rash feelings just because your losing out on your one year rental.

the Lakers would rather save $50 million from the luxury tax than to take on back Bogut just because one of Barnes or Klay jumps along. That's reality.

pretty much this. who in their right mind is going to pay 50 mil for an ok prospect (certainly not a 1st/2nd on a title contender potential) and a center who is horribly injury prone? the issue is def. not what the lakers gave up to get howard, its about what the lakers give up by having to take on contracts to make a sign n trade work with the warriors.

Stop thinking Dwight "will walk for nothing"... Think Dwight creates cap relief by leaving and sets LA up for a much deeper FA and draft class in 2014.

Golden State first has to convince Dwight that they are his preferred destination over Houston and LA, then they have to convince him and LA to agree to talk about a S/T, then they have to come up with a package that convinces LA to jump at the offer while still keeping Dwight happy with his future prospects.

Keeping in mind that given the restrictions of the new CBA, Dwight's value has never been higher.

You still clear the same cap space in 2014 by making a trade with GS. Since when have the Lakers cared about paying the luxury tax... lol

We don't care about paying luxury taxes. We care about being able to put the best team possible on the court. And with the current CBA, you have to be responsible with what/who you pay.

Jerry Buss' assets have been split among six people. Pretty sure they care. Besides which reasonable ownership group would agree to pay an extra 50 million just to get Barnes?

When it's spending $50 plus million on players you didn't covet it's not financially responsible.

Or... Do the warriors sign and trade then amnesty Gasol, which keeps away the luxury tax bill, preserves future cap space, and gives you a good asset heading into the future that might help with alluring free agents.

You can't amnesty a player you receive in trade.

Amnesty pau Gasol, not bogut. One rumor said the lakers might amnesty him anyway if they lost Dwight.

These Warriors fans that keep coming here thinking we will trade Dwight to take on Boguts contract to get one of Barnes/Klay is hilarious. Lets stop feeding the trolls.

the post confused me too but what he is saying is sign and trade Dwight.. get back asset plus contract... then to offset the Bogut contract, amnesty Pau.

I dont like it. If Warriors want Dwight, only way to get him is through trade. Klay plus Barnes then Lakers will take contract. Or else lakers are fine with walking.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?
