Whats a word worse than toxic, thats what that contract is.

Knight>>Lin

Maybe I misread the way his deal was setup up, but I thought the poison pill went away the second that NY decided not to match the offer. So now it's 2 years at just over $8 mil per year (no $15 mil the last year). That's not great, but it's not toxic either.

For cap purposes, the contract is $8.3 mm/ year for 3 years.

The difference is cash payout ($20 mm/2 vs $16.6 mm/2) is meaningless to everyone except the owner, who will stand to more than make up that $3.4mm cash difference in Asian exposure.

I get not liking Lin and all the rest of that, but to use the last year of the contract to say that it's "toxic" is simply faulty.

poopshype is garbage

try shamsports or storytellers

that 3rd year amount is only incurred if the Knicks matched but not an issue for any other team

Shamsports has the same figures as storyteller does.

Hoopshype is known to be unreliable.

8mil per year is still terrible when we're talking about freaking Jeremy Lin!..

How could it be terrible when the whole asian community would be buying our merchandise? Im sure PR wise there would be tons of opportunities for this, and besides the fact that hes actually a decent playmaker and a proven hardworker. I really won't mind Lin in our roster. He'd bring more positivity than negativity.

Because Joe is supposed to build a team to win championships, not sell jerseys. BK > Lin imo.

I don't know. I'd rather build a championship team with Lin included instead of Calderon, since Dumar seem to eager to resign him for whatever reason.

If it comes down to it, I'd much rather take Lin instead of Calderon. Lin's a better player overall.

Oh and to those who say Lin's defense is bad or comparable to Calderon's. It's not. Lin gets double the steals and has an uncanny ability to draw charges for offensive fouls. He can stay with his man as long as they're not named Westbrook, which I'll admit he had a tough time doing. Otherwise, we'll be fine with him running the point if he comes here.

getting steals is nice for the stat line but that doesnt mean hes a good defensive player.

^Hey, it's one or two over what Calderon can do defensively. Lin makes smart plays on both ends.

But in all honesty, I don't think this S&T will happen, and we'll resign Calderon and it'll be miserable. Since I'd rather have Knight run PG in conjunction with tutelage under Cheeks.

I was being facetious with the one or two thing about Calderon.

You're right, Joe D is supposed to build a championship team. But lets be truthful, all potential aside, do you really think we could win a championship with BK as the starting pg? I don't think so. Lin wouldn't win us either, but he'd do better in running the offense. But since y'all are hoping that BK pans out, then you do that. I don't wanna wait that long.

PS. Im hoping BK will have a breakout season this year, because if he doesn't, then It'd be time to snapback to reality.
