Does anyone else think Tyson Chandler would be a great fit?

I doubt the Knicks would be willing to let him go, but if we dangled Bled and Deandre they could possibly go for it. I feel like everyone on this board has become excited about keeping DJ and seeing how Doc improves him, but let's be honest DJ has just maxed out his skills. While he's decent on defense, his struggles on offense completely offset that. Doc mentions how amazing of an anchor DJ can become on defense and as great as that sounds it's not gonna matter when we have to take our anchor out in the final stretch of a close game because he can barely hit the rim on his free throws. I love DJ, but Chandler would be such a better fit for this team.

I got kind of excited when I saw the article about Aldridge wanting a trade out of Portland so I made that topic, but then I realized how right everyone was about Aldridge being a terrible fit with this team. Chandler however, would be perfect. Him and CP3 have been teammates before so the chemistry would be there. He can be a defensive anchor on a championship team and he proved that with the Mavs. His free throw shooting has improved over the years so that's not an issue with him either. Make this trade, re-sign Barnes, sign someone like OJ Mayo and make a few more small roster moves and this would be the best team in the west.

Clearly this will never happen, but I feel uneasy about having DJ be our starting center so I can't stop thinking of creative ways to get rid of him lol

Chandler is IMO a rich mans Deandre Jordan, except he's GREAT on defence at less of a liability on offence. But at the same time you want Blake to grow with another player in the front court and develop chemistry and Chandler is too old to begin growing with any other player.
I heard David Lee is available but so long as we have Blake we need a player who can anchor a defence. Every option we want to choose has a downfall, but IMO age is one you can't fix. And also I'm thinking along the lines of Bledsoe+Butler for DeMar Derozan

While he'd be great defensively and if we lost DJ I'd obviously like him, but at this point I'm actually gonna say I wouldn't want to give DJ up for him. Chandler would only be good for another season, or 2 max. In my honest opinion, if where going to win a championship it won't be in the next couple of years, year 3 maybe, I really think it depends on how much Blake improves.

But to answer the question, no thanks to Chandler.

Offer Eric Bledsoe and DeAndre Jordan for Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton and the Knicks might start listening. I'm sure you guys are going to want Shumpert instead of Felton and there I'm not sure the Knicks would do it.

Great trade for both parties involved. Tyson is a bully and Shump or Felton would be a solid backup pg on this team.

That's what I was thinking. Tyson wouldn't take **** from anyone and would be way more of an intimidating presence than DJ even if their defense was on par (even though it's not). And Chandler's age is not a huge factor. He's still 30 and for the time that he'd have left on his contract he would still be in his prime. If we decided to re-sign him after that, it would be to a smaller deal and there might be a possibility we find another center by then. But for the next 2 years, Chandler would give us way more of a chance to win a championship than DJ. I don't see DJ improving much more throughout his career so it's not really us going into "win now" mode.

There are a handful of Centers that I would swap for DJ, Tyson Chandler is one of them. Not all of them are available for a straight swap though, so we should include Bledsoe to sweeten the deal. Bledsoe and DJ for Chandler isn't worth it though. Bledsoe and DJ for Shumpert and Chandler is great for us, not so much the Knicks. Bledsoe and DJ for Felton and Chandler is a little fairer for both sides, but still better for the Knicks.

I would look at Phoenix too. We should try to get Gortat and one of their stretch 4's, or maybe Jared Dudley.

It would be really nice to have a center that is at least somewhat of an offensive threat. A guy that could consistently stick a 10-15 ft jumper would be nice. I'm actually really starting to warm up to the idea of re-acquiring Kaman. Tell Hollins to hit the road and give an offer to Kaman

wheord. i actually liked kaman... once he remedied that vitamin D deficiency (pun intended... d for defense....) he became an allstar.

i think kaman would be great off the bench, he'll probably even help BG get post moves... kaman def was underrated at the post... his triple threat stance was pretty legit, even with his awkward slowness, he was able to shoot over, backdown and sometimes even drive by with an up and under move. Heck, you can even put kaman and DJ out there together... given that DJ learns a go to post move and kaman can easily take those baseline mid range shots he's consistent with.

People act like we sucked on defense last season we were one of the top top defenses in even before Odom. The biggest defensive weakness was our 3pt defense and its not like we doubled inside.
