Vecsey broke the news:

And yes, it looks like the mMLE remains untouched.

I would have been surprised if he would have left due to the Washington money. But, I did think he would at least take a meeting or two and see what people were pitching him before he decided. Getting it done so quickly was huge for us. Sends the right message.

BTW...how much does he make total for this year between our 1.4 and the cash the Wiz still have to pay him?

Because of the fact that Blatche is still owed over $16 million over the next two seasons by the Wizards, he said repeatedly during and after the season that he would consider taking less money from the Nets in order to stay with the team that helped him resuscitate his career.

“Yeah, I thought about that idea,” Blatche said in his exit interview on May 5. “I got my second chance here, and I’m loyal to being here. We just have to see what happens.

“With the money situation, that makes it easier for me to stay here. I don’t have to take nothing huge. I can take less. It’s going to be based on what’s best for me.”

Due to the NBA’s complicated formula for players who have been amnestied, Blatche will make roughly $8.9 million dollars this year by staying with the Nets, who will also own his Early Bird rights going into next offseason.

The Nets will have his bird rights after another year right? If so, it makes no financial sense for him to leave because there's a good chance the Nets either extend him or sign and trade him after next season. And he liked being in Brooklyn, and with KG and Lopez being pretty low minute starters, he should have plenty of playing time. It really made no sense for him to leave on any level.

I think back to last summer when I actually had to argue with a few people about signing Blatche on this board. And my exact words over and over again were...low risk, high reward.

Had he been a punk...we would have cut our 14th man making a non guaranteed 800K. That's about as low risk as you can get.

And the upside? We ended up with our best bench players and easily the 4th best player on last year's team. And now, we get a guy making 9mil for the year who was worth at least the full MLE on the open market that will only cost us 1.4 mil, and cause us to use our M-MLE to bring him back.

One of Kings absolutely BEST moves.

YES! This offseason continues to outpace my own optimism.

So why don't we blow the doors off of reasonable expectations, and start dreaming even bigger? IMO, we need a defensive combo forward, a wing shooter, and an play-making guard who complements JET. (I'd prefer to leave Bojan overseas another year and spend the MMLE on a vet, but I think he can be an impact player for us by January if we bring him now.)

MMLE - Andrei Kirilenko ( ), Bojan Bogdanovic, Marco Belinelli
Vet's Min - Dominic McGuire, Francisco Garcia, Roger Mason Jr.
League Min - Devin Ebanks, James Anderson, Dominique Jones
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

Belinelli shouldnt be a guy you covet for full MMLE. He isnt terrible...but he wouldnt be the best use of that cash. Sooner target Nate over him.

And I said this earlier...but I cant see AK47 under and circumstance. I mean I am right there with you about thinking big and going for someone who might command a bit more that settles for less to come here. But do the math. AK47 just opted out of 10mil for one year to sign a multi year deal. The MMLE? its the same 10mil...OVER THREE.

I think AK should get 15mil over 2 or 20-24 mil over 3, third year might be an option year.

KG, along with Deron, Kidd, and Pierce were the ones calling Andray to convince him to stay. KG is one of those guys you hate on the other team, but want on your side. He'll get Blatche's back as long as Blatche does what he's supposed to do.

Simmons has hate oozing from his pores.

Blatche will be the reason why in May, KG will be healthy and ready to bring it to the Heat
