He's consulting on how to keep the fire lit under DAntoni... Mitch's making sure MDA sees Phil's face at night before he falls asleep, and that he knows not to bring any heavy personal items to his office.

nobody likes coming back to the office to pick up that mug one of your kids gave you: "#1 Coach"
2014: Randle / Clarkson
2015: Russell / Nance
2016: Ingram / Zubac
2017: Top 3 Pick? Fultz, Ball or Bust

Romana Shelbourne reported on ESPN Radio LA today Around 5 PM PST:

Kobe, Nash, Mitch, and Several Time Warner Executives will be attending the meeting with Howard. She pointed out that as of now there has been NO mention of Mike Dantoni attending this meeting. It is believed that Dantoni will NOT be in attendance.

How odd. Your coach not being in attendance?! Just sounds pretty strange. "I mean come on Time Warner Executives!!!!" NOT a good look for the Lakers. This will not impress Howard at all.

I say sign and trade this dude for Clay and Bogut.

Maybe the pitch is, if you sign with us we will bring on Phil. Would be awkward to have Dantoni around for that pitch.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

i'm going to assume u misheard cause it makes no sense for d'antoni not to be there. every report has him there including reports that he flew in today just for the meeting. if he wasn't going to be at the meeting it would be the biggest story in the NBA and would make no sense that he wouldn't already have been fired. shelbourne also has no mention of anything on it on her twitter feed, which you'd assume she'd be all over for such a huge story.

Yeah not REALLY huge news if he isnt there. Just doesn't look good. I mean imagine if you were howard and dantoni is a no show.

No I am not one of those that believe Phil is coming back. I think he may be announced as some sort of consultant if anything. Maybe they will tell Howard this. Still odd if thats the plan, even if Dantoni will be in attendance during the meeting.
