Its been 2 years since his injury and the surgery, I think. Id think hed be healed by now, and if he is, and if he doesnt get injured (now that is a GIANT "if") he could help us in many ways. why not give him a shot? Hope he comes here, if he wants to earn money in the future, he needs to come here.

It's coming to the point that we have to start dealing with free agents in secret, because as soon as we want a big man, everyone wants them too.

I'm still shocked we haven't acquired any big man on the cheap. Other teams do it all the time.

Are there any overseas big men we can sign for cheap as an experiment?

I said the same last season. If we sign him them for 2 years, this year as an option then could have been rehabbing with us & getting in the culture. Then next year we could use the early bird provision to up his salary, if he's been healthy.
I thought that would have made more sense than giving Howard another ring for wearing a suit - he could have done that as an assistant coach...

If it takes the MMLE, he's worth the risk. We're not looking for an impact, rotation guy just yet. He can grow into that over the course of the season. Just know that if there are this many teams taking a look at him, he's not going to take the vet min. Let's not be ridiculous. In a league where Reke commands $12M a year as a shooting guard who can't shoot, and where Bynum comes off his millionth knee surgery and probably doesn't need to work out for a team to have them throw a max contract at him. Greg Oden is a minimal risk for the MMLE. It's like $3M. We pay Joel a lot more than that each year to DNP, and we were fine when it was all we could get. Just because we got b2b rings doesn't mean a good deal isn't still a good deal. Can't get too greedy.

The heat offered Oden a contract, but he didn't want to sign.

Just give me Bird back and Im happy.

If Oden dosent want to "sacrafice" like everyone on the team has already done, than he dosent belong in a Heat uniform anyways.

I will do, next time I'm on RealGM on a computer. I've been using Tappatalk & the RealGM Forum app, and they only let you add a "sent from my iPhone" text sig, not edit you're RealGM sig. Plus in this I don't see the sigs, so I don't get reminded that way either.
I've had that sig since just after we signed the big-3. So it's been a while since I've been on a PC to view the forums - my school has gone to iPads, so I don't use the PC much.

I don't know why you guys are so thirsty about a guy who hasn't played since 2009 and has only 82 career games played. If he wants to join us for the minimum, fine. If not, oh well. I'm not going to be sweating over a reclamation project.

Because of teams are going to pay him that much, he must be healthy enough. It's not like anyone wants to take a flyer on an unknown, but everyone is gonna do their due diligence with him. If he checks out, why not the mmle? Are we supposed to save that pittance for someone better, because I don't see it. Risk reward is good in this case. I certainly like it more than giving it to Dalambert who was making public overtures to us while we swept his team in the first round. That really turned me off the guy. Especially since he also played like crap all year.
