Free Agency Predictions

Post#1 » by Piston Pete » Tue Jul 2, 2013 2:43 pm

This is a thread not to state what you WANT to happen....but instead, what you think WILL happen.

I think we've made it known our priorities are/were JSmoove, Tyreke, and Iggy.

JSmoove is playing us, IMO
Iggy seems like a long shot
Evans is NO bound unless Sacto matches.

So while we chase the satrs, other guys I had on my list have already been rumored to be close to agreeing elsewhere; Webster back to WASH, Korver to Brooklyn.

I think after its all said and done, we end up with "plan B or C" guys like Dorrell Wright, Dalembert, and a re-signed Calderon by default.

I have a feeling we've got a shot at Iggy with Cheeks here, but everyone else I feel is a long shot. We've got the money to do anything. we all know how that has worked in the past though. I don't think we have a chance at mayo or any of our hopeful bench additions until we can sign a big name.

I just think we are going to be left without a seat when the music stops playing. I expect we'll miss out on the Smith/Iggy/Evans group and Joe will be left trading away a 1st round pick for cap space he has to spend on guys like JR or Ellis.

I'm actually pretty optimistic on Iguodala ending up here. Before the shake-up in Denver he was a lock to stay there, but with a new GM and new rookie coach in Brian Shaw - Denver is just as much an unknown situation as any other - save for living there for a season of course.

I think the Pistons strike out on all they are intersested in. The only players I think may seriously work a deal with Detroit are Iggy and Kaman. But, I think Kaman is a bigger possibility. Pistons most likely will ride with the peeps they got.

And the ability to give him the most money....

I don't think Denver lets him walk. They have plenty of room under the tax threshold and he's their only chance to land a top talent for nothing more than cash.

That's not an option. The new CBA stipulates a salary floor that you must spend. We simply can't just let it ride with our current makeup, the money has to go somewhere.

Too bad Detroit doesn't have the pull to sign two max players like CP and Dwight. Woulda been nice. Iggy and Kaman would work though.

If you are Iggy why would you give up more money with a better team to play for Detroit? A team that's rebuilding only way I see us getting Iggy is if we get Smith as well to show them both we are serous about contending.

A year later the Gordon deal looks terrible. We need to spend money now with limited options to spend it on, plus we are going to lose a draft pick soon.

In an alternate universe we could have kept Gordon, still had the cap room to chase some of these FAs, not had the pressure of having to make a signing, kept our 1st and had nearly $30 mil in expiring contracts as trade chips.

If we can't sign definite up grades, then I say we help facilitate some of these other trades. We should be able to get something of value as a third party. When the money dries up they'll be a much better offers for third party teams . I think this will be the path we end up taking. As someone above said it looks like Smith is just stringing us along and Iggy is staying in Denver.

Wright would be a terrible signing. Holding out for Igoudala.

Alternate universe we just amnesty Gordon last year, deal with Villanueva (like we are), and keep the pick.

Iggy-Denver
J smoove- ready for it......Dallas......

I think the Rockets will get Howard and Cuban will go in panic mode and sign Smith. Smith will opt for them since there is no tax there leaving us F***ed.

Call up Charlotte and offer trade back. Maybe they want to get rid of malcontent Gordon and his contract, and the pick is still top 8 protected next year so they're not going to get Wiggins or Randle out of it.
