Offseason

Post#1 » by freddy » Tue Jul 2, 2013 2:38 pm

Detroit has been in the headlines in connection to several FA and trade possibilities. This is a good thing - I think it means we will have a very active offseason. Currently if all of our draft picks sign and stay, the roster stands at 13. I am willing to bet at least 1 of our free agent signings will be a sign and trade.

I think the 3 most likely to be signed and traded are Villanueva, Stuckey, and Jerebko. That is an additional $21,580,000 salaries to play with, along with our current capspace of ~$20,000,000

I think the only players on the roster that will play much next year will be Monroe, Drummond, Knight, Singler, and KCP. Our bench players that may or may not play much will be English, Middleton, Kravtsov, Mitchell and Siva. I bet we sign at least 2, maybe 3 players that play a major role for us.

My Predictions -
Josh Smith - Sign & Trade w/ Atlanta
4 yrs / $67 Million - starting salary $14,500,000
Trade Stuckey & Jerebko - Total Salary Out = $13,000,000
Remaining Capspace = $18,500,000

Sign AI
4 yrs / $48 Million - Starting Salary of $12,500,000
Remaining Capspace = $6,000,000

Re-Sign Calderson
3 yrs / $18 Million - Starting Salary $5,500,000

Ending Roster

Knight / Calderon / Siva
Igoudala / KCP / English
Smith / Igoudala / Singler / Middleton
Monroe / Smith / CV / Mitchell
Drummond / Monroe / Kravtsov

Not the best shooting roster, but should be the best defensive and rebounding roster. Also, the biggest thing to note on this roster is the number of assets that we have to work with. I could see CV and Singler being traded for another upgrade. There is alot of flexibility with the current situation between the capspace and the ability to do sign and trades. I am excited about how this offseason could turn out.

I like the signinnings but feel the depth chart would look more like this:

G Jose Calderon
G Kentavious Caldwell Pope
F Andre Igoudala
F Josh Smith
C Andre Drummond
