I really wanted to bring Webster back, and so Im pleased that the desired outcome was achieved, but Ernie clearly doesn't possess a shred of negotiating acumen. I have no idea how he entered into a negotiation with Webs representative and walked away agreeing to that term or salary. There clearly was zero taking and loads of giving on this one. Again, love the player when healthy, don't love the deal though.

I gotta agree with this. This had to be Webster's best case scenario, right? I mean, what else was his agent asking for? His own TV show on DC20?

Well, let's see if we get an more details. Hopefully there's a team option or something in there.

Giving out that kinda dough for Webster...

Still think the Wizards should have drafted Noel.

I think he is a solid player...but now you have to get rid of Ariza to get minutes for Porter.

So with that being the case, might as well trade Ariza and "go all in".

Keeping our 4th SF was so much more important than max cap room apparently. Depth is so essential, except at backup PG, PF or C.

I was going to make a post saying how much Ernie should pray Webster doesn't revert back to his pre-Wizards self and that if that happened, he'd be canned.

Then I snapped back to reality and realized if that happened, Ted would still probably give him an extension.

Because Wizards.

Two words: Cerrato's Redskins.

Until this assclown in the front office is fired, Wizards fans will continue to suffer. Enjoy guys...

Was that 3 for 10 ever discussed anywhere other than in this forum?

Eh, it's moot now. So, who can we get for Ariza and an Ernie's Kid?

Partial guarantee on 4th year removes a good chunk of my frustration.

Vesely is probably gone this summer though to give us more cap flexibility unless he blows up.

I think that was just internet speculation.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Yeah, that makes me feel better as well.

Kind of smells of a suck-up move by EG to keep one of Ted's favorite players. I like Webster but that's a bit much for a 3-man with no handles coming off a career season. I'm also guessing he will start until Porter is ready. Ultimately, he'll be turned into a sixth man. Good guy, bad contract even if 4th year is a partial. If we don't trade Ariza for a big, this offseason is incomplete or a C- (please no Jamison).

Ok...I think I would have done 4/18 as my highest offer but this is still an overpay...I actually think *when* he is healthy, the money isn't terribly spent...but I'm hesitant to believe he will consistently perform like he did last season. The 4th year being partially guaranteed is a bit of relief...Still I'm happy he's back...I just wonder what teams plans are going forward.

We'll more than likely max Wall....With Webster making a million more than I wanted this season...I'm not sure what FAs we can attract in 14/15. His contract will be up by the time Porter needs to get paid so I'm not so worried about LONG term applications of this. I think our growth is crippled by the improvements by Wall/Beal now...and out ability to make the playoffs are hinged on Nene/Webster's health...Scary proposition. But I'm willing to accept it.

But yah, **** EG.

@KyleBanks113: @BulletsForever This is like when you choose the "Buy It Now" price on eBay when you could just bid for way lower.

Oh lord, it was only a matter of time before Grunfeld found his new Daniels/Songaila.

There goes our salary cap flexibility for 2014.

Somebody tell me, what exactly was the point of drafting Rice in light of that deal?

If you only look at last season, you can justify the MLE and a 3 year plus deal for Webster. However with his injury history this is a bad deal for the Wizards.

The biggest issue is the years.

2 yrs 10 million should have been doable.

Now when Wall, Beal, etc need their cash...

You have Webster getting too much..

Now if Webster proves to be a solid 6th man....Getting 12/13 points a game off the bench then great..

But if Porter (which you should hope) starts eating up most of the mins, another forward (maybe not Ariza anymore) starts eating up the other mins..

And you're paying 5.5 million for a guy getting you 6 or 7 points a game......yeesh..

So I assume this means that Jan's days are numbered in a Wizards' uniform?

All of you will eat crow when we are thrashing Miami in the 2nd round of the playoffs next year with Martell giving LBJ that 3 ball all day long.
