Pacers Explore Trade Of Granger, Green

Post#1 » by Grang33r » Tue Jul 2, 2013 10:28 pm

The Indiana Pacers have begun exploring trades of Danny Granger and Gerald Green.

With David West set to re-sign on a three-year, $36 million contract, the Pacers are trying to improve their salary situation.

One rival executive said that the Pacers were finding no takers for either player during their initial efforts.

The Pacers also reached agreement this week with C.J. Watson.

Here we go again. So much for the plan to keep Danny for the season. And we can't even hope for Eric Bledsoe anymore, as he was dealt to the Phoenix Suns today.

Who would we get? If we don't want to pay the tax... his expiring contract is how we avoid it.

I dont know if i trust this source considering Bird just a few days ago at a press conference said he wasnt planning on trading Danny. I would consider this just an easy rumor to print; just like the Rajon Rondo stuff. Ainge has made it clear he isnt interested in trading Rondo but we keep hearing possible trades.

This rival executive must have his head shoved up his a$$ then. At least two teams have contacted the Pacers in regards to Danny. LAC and the Bucks.

As a Wolves fan, Granger's injuries scare me, but if he manages to be even remotely healthy and what he used to be I would be glad to have him on the team.

What about Granger for Ilyasova, Henson, and 1sts? That a possibility?

I hope DG stays. If he does, and we add
quality pieces, I'd really feel, as a fan,
that the FO is serious about gunning for
it this year. I don't think we need to be
2-deep in every position, but we can keep
a solid 9-man rotation. DG can play 3/4 off
the pine, equivalent to starter's minutes.

Gerald Green … now there's a contract
we should move.

I can't imagine that we are looking to dump Granger, but that we know we'd be best to move Green.

I still think we'd be happy to keep Granger, but exploring all options. Either way, we have enough space to sign a backup PF and another player or two to fill out the roster and spot the MLE amongst them with no financial issues.

No. Henson is untouchable right now, and Ilyasova has a lot of value on the market. I don't see Milwaukee thinking that they should give up 1sts if they are giving up either of Henson or Illyasova for Granger.

They did just trade Tobias Harris and JJ Redick for 2 2nds so you just never know with the Bucks

I'm sure the Pacers will turn over every rock in the league trying to move Green. Guessing there's no market and that the only way he gets moved this summer is with a buyout.

This "story" smacks of BS. The Pacers don't need to trade Granger to clean up their salary situation, he's in the last year of his contract. He'll be on the team next season unless someone makes a Godfather offer for him

I am hoping that team can find a way to dump Green even if it means losing a future pick. Looking at the offers this year is starting to concern me about Stephenson. Hopefully the team extends him and George early. Tyreke Evans 44 mill; Iguodala 56 million. I would liken Stephenson to Tyreke Evans in terms of skill set.

Larry made it clear in the previous press conference that he has no intentions in trading away Granger.

As much as I like to think about what the Pacers could get for a healthy, productive Danny Granger, his contract as it stands works out too well to trade him for more salary. His contract expires at the end of the year, and they'll use much of that money to sign PG to a max contract extension. If the Pacers bring on more salary in out years, doesn't that throw the PG extension into danger?

I think the Pacers test the waters and see if Danny can help take them to the next level this year. This is, I think, the best chance the Pacers will have at the Finals. They'll be contenders the next few years with PG, Roy, Hill and West, but the other pieces are a bit fuzzier.

My proposal is trade between Indiana and Pelicans...

Granger and 14' pick for Gordon

Your opinion?

In my opinion this trade is good for both teams. NOP sign Evans and need SF, Pacers need better SG than Stephenson. Eric is a good ballhandler and scorer. And he is from Indianapolis.

the time for trading for Gordon has come and gone. with Paul George heading for a max contract, we have no room to pay Eric. what we'd like to do now is trade Green for a backup power forward with a similar or shorter contract.

If we weren't so afraid of the tax, I think it's a possibility. But just because we avoid the tax like it's the plague I don't think it would ever happen.

That said, I do think it makes sense. I'd love to have Gordon and George starting together and allow Lance to come off the bench.

It's an absolute no go, financially. A starting lineup in 2014 of Hill, Gordon, George, West, and Hibbert alone makes $65m on a luxury tax line of about $75m. Green, Mahinmi, and Watson put us at the luxury tax themselves. You can see the issues.

Also, at this point, I'm not including a 1st and massive cap relief for Gordon. You get one or the other, not both, until Gordon shows he's long term healthy and shows he has the desire to play consistently again.

This will sound weird coming from me.....

Granger and Green to Detroit
Stuckey and Villanueva to Indy

We downgrade from Danny to Stuckey and get to clear the 2nd year of Green. Stuckey could be ANOTHER ball handler for the bench, and could be allowed to just play offensively. Villanueva would be bought out if he'd take a discount. If no discount, we can work him deep off the bench.
