what would be a reasonable contract for jefferson?

i assume he will want a 4 year deal (3 years would be ideal, imo).

if i am the cats, i would offer 4/40. surely jefferson and his agent will ask for 4/60. would you meet in the middle?

I'd give him 3/35.

If he wasn't down, that would be ok.

But I wouldn't budge too much more than that.

I honestly think he gets 4/50. Teams have been spending like crazy.

Would any of those guys realistically be better fits that Al Jefferson? How many of them are realistic signings next year?

How about Kaman this year? Isn't he a UFA as well?

He's not as cool as Jefferson, but he likely wouldn't be as expensive either.

They really have. Some of the numbers being tossed at these so-so wings is just nuts.

Back to Jefferson though - I have been such a massive fan of him for so long now. I've wanted him for years to years. 4/50 would be 11m, 12m, 13m and 14m. If the last year was a team option I think I would be down.

I'd love to see Big Al and his sweet, sweet post moves in Charlotte.

I really think it would do Biz wonders as well - on both ends of the floor learning how to score from Al and also how to defend Al in practice.

No. I'm not sure I could force myself to watch the Bobcats if Kaman was on the team and getting regular minutes.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I think they've realized Biyombo is still years away. Wasn't it Silas that said it could take Biyombo 5 years to get "it"?

Regardless I can't wait to see how our front court will look with Jefferson, and Zeller.

Really would love to get him for about $10 mil per. If no one else can offer him that, we may be able to get him cheaper than expected.

I don't assume it's a given that the Bobcats get Al, but I'm actually hoping at this point.

The contract matters though. I kind of wish that he could be signed on one of those reverse contracts where it's highest in year 1 and goes down from there. But that's super rare for a reason.

Lets say our internal team budget allows for 15 mil to spend between a wing and a big as FA's this off season.

Would you rather:

Hendo at 10 mil a season + Marreese Speights or Tyler Hansbrough at 5 mill a season = 15 mil

or

Dorrell Wright or Nick Young at 5 mil a season + Al Jefferson at 10 mill a season = 15 mill

????

Kemba
Hendo
MKG
Speights
Biz

or

Kemba
Wright
MKG
Big Al
Biz

I might be biased - I am not a fan at all of Speights and his face up jump shooting ways.

Plus I don't think Hendo is worth 10 mil.

Give me Wright and Big Al.

Can't be any worse than it was last year.

For what it will be getting paid it is WAY worse.

Dorell Wright and Al Jefferson, if we are making moves out of the tank we've got to go all in don't we?

Zeller/Biyombo is the future of our frontcourt and Jefferson would do wonders for them as Jeff did for Love and then Favors/Kanter.

Edit: But who knows, we may not even get Jefferson, which would be great news to some of you :)

Would not pay Hendo $10 mil under any circumstance. I'd take the Jefferson deal, but I doubt he would. He just came off a 5-year contract where he made $11m, $12m, $13m, $14m, and $15m; is he really gonna take that much of a pay-cut to come to a team as bad as the Bobcats? I'm not saying give him $15m per, but with the way mediocre wings are getting paid I've gotta think someone is gonna pay a quality big more than $10m...and they will almost certainly be a better team.

Would he go for more per year, but only 2-3 years? It would only work if teams were unwilling to give him a long term and high dollar deal at his age. This would give him a couple more years of a big payday, then time to ring-chase when he starts his 30s. He probably wouldn't go for it, but I'm just thinking out loud.
