Pistons offer CV,Stuckey for Gay

Post#1 » by dukeknicksirish » Wed Jul 3, 2013 4:04 am

The Detroit Pistons have offered the expiring contracts of Rodney Stuckey and Charlie Villanueva to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Rudy Gay.

The Raptors acquired Gay in a January trade made by Bryan Colangelo.

Trading Gay would clear salary cap space for the Raptors for the 2014 offseason.

Masai Ujiri has already begun clearing holdovers by trading Andrea Bargnani to the New York Knicks.

Good thing is it only kills about $1 million of our capspace so we'd still have about $19 million left for other players.

Not that I like Gay that much, but certainly a better move than overpaying Iggy or Smith for the next 4 years. This is only a two year deal, and we'd get rid of Stucky and CV in the process? Let's do it.

Gay's advanced stats don't jump out at you but you MUST make this happen if you're Dumars. The fans might perk their ears for the first time in 5 years with this team. I'm hoping...

Most logical offer for both teams. Raptors are in FULL TANK MODE and Rudy would HURT that.

I like it but have a hard time seeing Toronto take this. What sweetener could we offer? A 2nd round pick? Someone from our bench?

Sweetner = Singler

Or Singler and they add another contract - like Lowry.

Add nothing more. Stuckey and Villanueva are enough. Gay is someone to facilitate the offense through in late game situations

Raptors should do it to imo, they get rid of the huge rudy gay contract and get two expiring contracts and can tank for wiggins then have a ton of cap space next season.

I like it for both teams. You guys have a legit front court with Monroe/Drummond and adding Gay would help significantly.

Toronto is just trying to rebuild. Don't be surprised if Derozans contract gets shipped out as well.

Should try and pry Derozen from them too. Good slashing 2 since Stucky would be gone could fill his void a knight Derozen KCP back court is nice a Rondo Derozen KCP back court is sick.

Honestly Gay really isn't that good.

His TS% is actually worse than Josh Smith's who everyone makes out to be a terrible shooter. He's ranked 49th out of NBA small forwards.

Martell Webster for $24 million over 4 years would have been a better move.

Thinking about it more, Dumars is crazy. No way this happens. The Pistons aren't destined for deals like this to happen. Not that it's anything franchise changing, it's just too good to be true. Fudge...
