Also, Redick got 4/27 (presumably fully guaranteed) with a trade kicker. Martell's deal pretty much reflects the market IMO, and all the shooters getting snatched up today showed why the team had to act fast.

Man, they pick up Bledsoe and will have to extend him after just signing Dragic longterm. Wonder if they can play together?

Kevin Martin got 4 years $28 million from the T-Wolves

Splitter got 4 years $36 million. Good value for him.. Spurs were the 3rd best rated defense this year. He just sucked in the finals and became soft.

If the Spurs get a wing to replace Captain Jack who can create.. They will go back to the finals assuming Timmy is himself for another year.

Remember when Sam Presti was a genius?

Then he traded the league's best young shooting guard for a year of Kevin Martin, a guy who spent most of the year in the D-League, and a guy who averaged 7 PPG in the Big East.

The Harden deal was an unmitigated disaster for OKC.

With the way teams are throwing out money, it makes you wonder what the point of the lockout was.

Well yeah, and at some point down the line almost all the teams will have spent almost all their money, with decent or even quite good players still available. Just as Wall/Beal/Porter are hitting their stride, but before they all have to be resigned. That would have a been a good time to have a little cap space.

Tony Allen got the entire MLE. The guy can't shoot. Granted he's an elite defender but you're playing 5 on 4 on the offensive end.

This helps our case though, because the teams you thought were going to have a lot of cap space are spending recklessly this offseason.

This gets brought up a lot, but it swung the balance of revenue devoted to the players versus the owners. The players previously received 57% of revenue with that being downgraded to 51.15% under the new agreement.

No matter what contracts are handed out, the players will always receive 51.15% of the revenue (as calculated by a particular formula to create the BRI, so it's a little more complicated than that). They can't get any more or any less than that no matter what - if all 30 teams are over the cap, the players get 51.15%. If all 30 teams are below the salary floor, the players get 51.15%.

The actual contracts just swing the specifics of who is paying and who is getting paid within that agreement.

The Reddick/Budinger deals have to have people feeling better about Webster's deal.

I'm shaking my head on 45 million for Splitter b/c I'd love for the Spurs to be able to retool and Splitter looked terrible in the finals.

When I heard the Spurs had cap room this off-season I was pretty excited for them. However from what their fans on realgm were saying, nobody was really expecting much shake-up and really was just going to stay the course.

Their offensive improvement will be mitigated by the defensive decline.

Manu re-signs for 2 years, $14M. So for those of you scoring at home (or even if you're alone), the Spurs keep Manu and Splitter for $2M less than they paid last year.

Al Jefferson spent past a day and a half with the Bobcats, per ESPN.com's Chris Broussard.

This is NBA free agency we are talking about. GMs seem to rarely be in their right minds this time of year.
