because the first rounder sent in the Noel deal has top-5 protection, they cannot trade any more until Philly gets theirs, except on draft day (assuming its not top-5 and that they won't be going 2 years without executing a 1st rd pick)

Yep

The pick is top 1-3 protected which makes them even more stupid.

Toronto must be tempted to tank with the hometown native Canadian Wiggins a possibility.

Dumars seems like he's trying to capitalize on that with an offer of expirings.

Would you be willing to trade Ben Gordon's expiring, Taylor and a couple second round picks for Rudy Gay?

Joe Dumars is trying to improve the Pistons roster in the short term while not mortgaging the future. Gay wouldn't improve the Bobcats enough in the short term to risk the long term development of the Bobcats.

Yes. Rudy Gay will be one of the more prioritized free agents come 2014 (player option; so not likely) or 2015 offseason. Just because he's overpaid now doesn't mean that he will always be. If Charlotte doesn't start making moves to bring in talent like Gay then it won't help their chances of signing other top free agents in the near future. The Bobcats can't keep depending on rookies to 3rd year veterans forever. I can assure you if Gay was on the Bobcats roster that a player like Al Jefferson would have already signed on, because by not having reputable players of that level make free agents hesitant to sign into uncertainty

Absolutely not. We have our SF of the future, and that would destroy our flexibility going into next years offseason.

I would do it.

PG - Kemba/Sessions
SG - MKG/Hendo
SF - Rudy/Hendo
PF - Zeller/McBob
C - Jefferson/Biyombo

= a possible 2nd round of the playoffs and a lot of excitement in Charlotte.

...and we'd still have Portland and Detroit future 1st rounders!

I figured the Raptors would reject that preposterous offer from the Pistons

Not a chance. The last thing this team needs is another role player on an albatross contract. Wouldn't take it if it only took Gordon and Tyrus.

Ok, so this is from this past season but if it were true in January why not July?

The only thing that has changed is the price of Rudy Gay.

It's much lower now.

I would pass on Gay. I do not like the idea of forcing MKG into the shooting guard role. and feel like we can get a guy that can do what Gay does for cheaper in free agency this offseason like Mayo or Jr Smith.

Gay is only under contract 2 years. MKG is still only 19. Last season he had more than he could handle with 26 MPG. You could keep him right there and easily find those minutes for him and develop him more gradually over these next 2 years. If ownership brings in Al Jefferson I would think the idea is to win now while developing young players. Jefferson helps Biz, doesn't block him. Same thing with McRoberts and Zeller. I don't think MKG would just disappear if they added Gay. The thing is, with Toronto wanting to tank for Wiggins, the opportunity to acquire a star might never come so cheaply. If the goal is to make the playoffs as the Hornets, Jefferson and Gay go a long way towards that goal. They would have to put Gordon's contract in the deal to make it work and amnesty Tyrus to make enough room for a shooting guard like JR Smith

Kemba/Sessions
JR Smith/Taylor
Rudy Gay/Kidd-Gilchrist
Cody Zeller/McRoberts
Al Jefferson/Biyombo
