They're trying to trade for Rudy Gay, who's barely a difference-maker when you're talking about wins. By the sounds of things they're trying to make a run at the playoffs. Still Gay would plug a big hole.

That's what i said. It seems with the Gay, Josh Smith rumours that Dumars wants to make a serious push for the playoffs next season, not after the 2014 super draft.

Because he knows his first rounder is all but gone. He traded Gordon for this off season and yes failing thus far.

weird. i wonder what happened. it's not exactly a razor-thin line between "yeah let's give this guy $56M" and "nevermind". maybe it was misreported originally.

That'd explain it.

Probably felt that Iguodala was going to use them as leverage. "Sac offered this, I really don't want to go there, but if you don't at least match it I will"

Maybe the sign n trade deal with New Orleans might be growing into something bigger and they need the room.

If their is an interested party for Gordon it could make for a 3 way

Now we all have to sit and wait for Dwight Howard to make up his mind before the rest of the market proceeds. Annoying.

If I were the Lakers, frankly, I would trade him to LAC for Blake Griffin/DeAndre Jordan or to HOU for Asik/Lin/TJones. I mean that Kobe/Dwight/Nash/Pau/Dantoni mess is never gonna work.

If JR Smith and Henderson are the same price, who would you rather have?

It's kind of tough to answer, but I'd go with Henderson being that he's younger & a better locker room presence despite Smith being a more versatile talent. Neither are transcending talents that'll make much of a difference between wins & losses, so even though Smith is slightly more productive than Henderson it's not a factor when you consider possible consequences down the road

I can see the benefit of having a guy like JR Smith. But every time i see him play, i see the next john starks and that is just not reliable.

Tuesday was a tough day for O.J. Mayo.

Listen Two of the teams that had showed the most interest in Mayo committed to other shooting guards, with the Los Angeles Clippers giving J.J. Redick a four-year, $27 million deal as part of a three-team sign-and-trade deal and the Minnesota Timberwolves agreeing to a four-year deal in the $30 million range with Kevin Martin.

The Utah Jazz, Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers, Charlotte Bobcats and Chicago Bulls are other teams reported to have contacted Mayo in the opening day of free agency. Chicago is limited to the mini-midlevel exception, but there’s still a chance Mayo could get an offer in the Redick/Martin range.

What if Mayo slips through the free agency cracks for the second consecutive summer?...

At this point, Mayo’s price could be coming down.

It seems to be down to Jazz, Bucks, Blazers and Bobcats...

OJ Mayo moving closer to deal with Bucks:
