Re: WT- Nate unlikely to be back
If we were able to retain Nate and sign Dunleavy, it would be a pretty darn good free agency for the Bulls. Surely he will get more than the minimum though.
BTW, did we ever get confirmation on the 2nd year for Dunleavy's contract? Is it an option?

I would think that this means that Nate to NY isn't happening.
Agreed. Nate and JR on the same court would be fun to watch, but not necessarily for winning basketball reasons.
The Bulls will not be paying the Lux Tax this year. The rest is speculation.

Are there people here actually against bringing back Nate at any price? Or just above min?
I can't really tell from the con Nate posts.
Because its pretty clear at this point if it happens, it would be minimum plus his small raise.

Not even worried. My man Booz took Nate shark swimming. I know if I take someone shark swimming, we together forever.

I'm in the camp that definitely wants Nate back. If only for the simple reason to have a offensive creator outside of Rose, which we lack, severely.

Well, there's this:

Chicago contacted Nate Robinson and offered the minimum, per a source. He's searching for a more lucrative multi-year deal after big season.

Re: WT- Nate unlikely to be back
For an NBA player who is towards the later stages of their career, its more important for them to have longer deals than just more money on a shorter contract.
Nate probably wants at least a 2-3 year deal.
Someone will scoop him up for a longer deal and more money, but it wont happen till most of the big fish are gone.
The only way we get Nate, is because Nate really really wants to be here for a title. But at this point, its more important for him to get money first.
I cant blame him.

Thanks for posting that.
For a guy like Nate, a multi year deal or a few hundred thousand extra dollars is important. He hasn't made 10's of millions in his career. I would do the same as he is doing in trying to maximize his payment.
If those type of deals aren't available for him, and they very well may not be, he is going to be in a position of choosing what team to go to for the vet min. Chicago really can't offer a ton of playing time, so I'm not sure he would come here even then. However, he really seems to like Chicago.
I don't think that Nate to Chicago is impossible. If the Bulls can get him, I would consider this offseason a success.
Rose / Kirk
Butler / Nate
Deng / Dunleavey
Boozer / Gibson
Noah / Nazr
That would probably be the best team the Bulls have put together since Rose has been here. Its tough though. The bench mob teams were better on defense due to Asik but this team has more offense with Kirk / Nate / Butler / Dunleavey replacing Bogans / Brewer / Korver / Watson

The NBA is really strange right now. Almost half the teams in the NBA don't want to win next year. You have teams tanking for draft picks AND teams tanking for capspace. As I have said several times, I think that free agency is going to turn into a bloodbath for free agents soon if it isn't already.
Nate might not get that offer.

If he came back we'd also his early bird rights and he'd have the opportunity to sign for more or S&T for more.

Good point Magilla. We also have that whole "title contender" thing going for us. I know some people don't like to read that, but the only team in the NBA I would put the above team as underdogs against in a series is Miami.

Re: WT- Nate unlikely to be back
I dunno. I think that if he doesn't receive anything but minimum offers, why not come back with the Bulls? He seemed to fit in well, still hangs out with teammates, had probably his best season of his career here. Playing time on this team is never at a premium. 1. Rose is coming off a serious injury, so he may not be playing 48 minutes a night. 2. Kirk was fairly fragile last year. 3. Even with the addition of MDJr, scoring is still a premium off the bench as it stands. You take Butler off that bench and right now all you have is Dunleavy - he plays SF and would be more of a spot-up shooter. Teague and Snell are wild cards right now as well.
On top of all that, you have the feud over minutes between Thibs and Gar. You'd *think* Thibs would relent, especially considering the injury situations the last few seasons.
Honestly, I'd be very surprised if Nate could find a bonafide playoff team that could offer him more minutes.

Yeah good point. This offseason is unlike any other in several years. You have an upcoming draft that at this stage, looks to be the one everyone wants to be in. The Duncan draft, the Lebron draft and actually the Rose draft were all recent ones I remember were people were going crazy for. So teams are purposely tanking.
Not to mention the 2014 free agents, including that one guy Lebron.
I think our main competition for Nate are crap teams with tons of money to burn. I dont think it will be to another top contender.

Ignoring injuries, I would love to see a 10 man rotation.
Rose 34 / Kirk 14
Butler 32 / Nate 16
Deng 28 / Dunleavey 20
Boozer 28 / Deng 5 / Gibson 15
Noah 30 / Gibson 10 / Nazr 8
That allows some pretty interesting lineups. Nate / Rose / Butler / Deng / Noah would be REALLY hard to defend for a few possessions in the 4th.

That's a pretty good allocation of PT. Gar should sign you to replace Ron Adams.

Plus, I long to see Nate and Rose log some minutes together. Nate defending the smaller, quicker guard while essentially playing the 2 on offense. I don't know for sure how it would work out, but MAN would I like to have a chance to judge.

Chicago offered Nate the minimum, yeez.
Imho Nate has proven himself on practically every team he played on, with the Knicks, Celtics, GSW and this year with the Bulls. How on earth can the Bulls think they can sign him for such a low number.
I wish they could get rid of Teague and a few others, and just have Rose/Nate.

Oooooooh. Nate's not gonna like this:

He may take the minimum with Chicago just to have plenty of chances to blow up on CJ.

Source says the Indiana Pacers had expressed interest in Nate Robinson, but ultimately decided to sign C.J. Watson.

The minimum is all the Bulls have left now that they signed Dunleavy.
And I don't see any other teams knocking down Nates door - that minimum deal might start looking pretty good.
