if Granger isn't healthy, lots of options open up. you could amnesty him or do an insurance settlement. one way or another we could open up room under the tax. but if Granger is healthy, we have a three man rotation on the wing with PG, DG, and Lance. what minutes are left can be handled by OJ, SHill and even GHill. we don't need Danny to be an all star to have the wing covered. we're good if he's better than Sam Young.

the bottom line though is that we've done things to improve on the wing/guards both through the draft and free agency while we've done nothing yet to replace Tyler. I've seen some columns suggesting that Ian can play some 4 and that would help if true. as fast as we've been moving though I expect another agreement by the 10th.

We burned our amnesty on Posey, and there's only a short period each summer (coming up soon) where teams can use it. Otherwise, I don't think we can claim insurance until well until the season (at least a year from when he last played) when it wouldn't provide much good.

I'm really not very worried about Danny not being able to play this year. as long as he can defend and shoot well enough to keep the floor spread, he'll be an upgrade. I think we have a real chance of having six players be over 1000 points for the year. that doesn't happen often. I remember we were close to that once (Mike Bantom, et al, I think) and reading that it almost never happens. I'll see if Google can find it for me ... yup.

Most players, 1,000 or more points, season
6-Syracuse, 1960-61 (Schayes 1,868, Greer 1,551, Barnett 1,320, Gambee 1,085, Costello 1,084, Kerr 1,056)
6 - Denver, 1987-88 (English 2,000, Lever 1,546, Adams 1,137, Schayes 1,129, Vincent 1,124, Rasmussen 1,002)
6 - Boston, 1990-91 (Lewis 1,478, Gamble 1,281, McHale 1,251, Parish 1,207, Bird 1,164, Shaw 1,091)

Well, if Danny is back as a lesser player (less explosion, ability to elevate, less lateral quickness) he's a stretch 4 by definition. If he's back closer to full strength he can still be a stretch 4.

If Granger comes back you can probably get by without adding anyone. Question, is it appropriate to make hat assumption?

we're guessing and assuming but the team has information from the doctors and maybe even from just watching him work out that we don't have.

Lopez is being traded to Portland as part of a 3 team deal. New Orleans is sending Lopez to Portland and Vazquez to Sacramento while netting Tyreke Evans in return in S&T.

works for me. kind of like Mason Plumleee going 22 in the draft. all the rumors that I don't want to be true wind up with the player going elsewhere before we can make a mistake.

Didn't think he had started working out yet?
