I'm ok with 7 million for 1 year. Henderson is a bad fit with 2 below average shooters (MKG and Kemba). The shorter the better.

You know that if other teams are over-looking Henderson of the Charlotte Bobcats, Zach Lowe isn't. He seems to value him as a decent player based on the cameos Gerald had in his latest column.

The Spurs, in other words, could still be pretty frisky, depending on Ginobili’s intentions; they could land a quality third big (Carl Landry, or even Millsap) with that cap room, or another wing with some ballhandling juice (O.J. Mayo, Gerald Henderson).

But someone out there — maybe the Clippers, maybe the Pacers — was going to pay Allen at this level, and the Grizzlies entered the offseason with limited financial flexibility in chasing solid defenders with better shooting range than Allen. The list of elite defenders with better shooting range than Allen at the Grizzlies’ price range is very short, and perhaps nonexistent. It’s nice to dream about Henderson, but he’s a restricted free agent, and should sign for more than the mid-level exception.

Just sign him already. Lock him up before other teams drive up the price.

On the other hand, I believe in waiting it out a bit. Teams tend to offer large salaries at the start of July, but there are plenty of serviceable wing players around though. You can always snatch quality players for cheap later on. Of course, you can't follow this way of thinking if you believe that Hendo should be locked up with a good deal and that there aren't that many players of his value around. I certainly think otherwise.

If J.R. Smith gets 24.5/4, then I wouldn't give Hendo any more than that.

Reply to a now deleted question Snidely asked me about who I would prefer.

I see no harm in paying less for a supposedly worse shooting guard, but for one who is competent enough and a threat from downtown, considering that I don't like our chances with Hendo being our starting shooting guard for the future.

Marco Belinelli, Carlos Delfino, Randy Foye, Francisco Garcia, Anthony Morrow, Dorell Wright sound good to me.

Corey Brewer doesn't fit my description but is an interesting player to look at.

I understand that I might be a bit too negative about heading Gerald around but I just don't want us to over-pay a guy who doesn't fit today's game. Don't take me the wrong way with that J.R. Smith line, but it makes you wonder, doesn't it? Is Hendo really worth more than 6mil, if Smith got such a deal?

I'd like to sign Garcia after watching that OKC series. He shot 44% from 3 while doing a great job D-ing up KD.
And he's 6'7, would be nice to add size. Dunleavy signed for $3mln/, seems like we could have Garcia for $3 or $4, no?

I'm just having a little trouble getting a clear picture of what mgmt is doing. When they passed on McLemore in the draft, I figured Hendo was coming back. I see your argument for waiting, though.

JR took a bit of a pay cut to stay with the knicks 6.25 is a good damn deal. hendo is going to get more than that not because he is better though

Now that we've signed Jefferson, I don't really want Henderson back. We've got too many players that love to ISO and not enough floor spacing. It would be best for our young guys (MKG, Kemba, and Zeller) having a deep threat at the two spot and it would give those guys more touches, it would be better on our capspace going forward, and it would help somewhat counterbalance this offseason's talent influx for better lottery odds.

Henderson's just not a good fit for this team. Just sign one of the players Lamar listed on the cheap and spread our two-guard minutes between that player, Gordon, Taylor, and Sessions for the time being.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hendo just accepts the QO and becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer. Cho has stated he wants to add more shooters to this roster, so I think he'd be a little leery of tying up money long term to Henderson. I love the other aspects Hendo brings to this team, but having players that can shoot the ball will better fit this roster's current makeup.

To keep the tank intact, we need to let Hendo walk and draft his replacement next year

If we for some strange reason let Hendo walk I would like to take a look at Corey Brewer for a short team fix.
