How about we include Kemba if you aren't done raping us. One of the worst deals I've read on here.

Comparing him to the man we're all the waiting on - Dwight Howard - he actually stacks up pretty well. Jefferson produced a player efficiency rating that ranked 21st in the NBA last season, while Howard finished 36th.

Al Jefferson averaged 10.1 PPG inside the paint last season, one of 13 NBA players to average 10+. The Bobcats averaged 38.6 PPG inside the paint last season (24th in NBA), with their leading scorer being 6'1 guard Kemba Walker (6.6 PPG).

Al Jefferson 18 ppg 9 rpg 20.99 PER

Ersan Ilyasova averaged 13.7 and 7 with a 18.37 per while getting a contract extension of 5/40. Very interesting, nearly 6 million dollars more a year to someone that averages about 4 more points a game, and 2 more rebounds a game.

Yeah, but Al gets style points for being handsome. Did you see that picture of his bed?
Ilyasova wins ugliest man in the NBA, hands down. Poor gent ought to wear a sack over his head.

So you want a 13 million dollar expiring, last years #2 pick, one of the best backup PGs and a more than capable starter, AND a future first for...... Rudy Gay and Kyle Lowry?

Eh, I like the effort, but no thanks.

Minnesota's highest pick was OJ Mayo at 3 when Big Al was there and Utah was getting late lottery picks. With Boston, the highest pick they had was the 5th pick. In this coming draft, to bust out the gates we really need Wiggins, Parker, or Randle. Picking 4th or 5th wont' cut it.

If you're holding out for a top-3 pick, that's not a plan, it's a hope.

Even if the Bobcats didn't agree to a deal with Jefferson, there's no guarantee they would get the top-3 pick. Look at this past year. They had the 2nd worst record (that was decided by on the last game of the season) and ended up with the 4th pick.

You can't build a team around those ping pong balls, it will screw you every time.

thruthefire wrote:There are a few other things to consider: Not having Dunlap, not having Mullens, and possible improvement from MKG.

So then they could still be better anyway. Do you know how many teams are hoping they'll get a top-3 pick next year? There's no move you can make right now that's going to guarantee it.

Ha, Tell that to OKC. And we pretty much just guaranteed that we aren't even getting a top 5 pick next year now, and probably going to have our pick taken by the Bulls and end up with no 1st round pick at all. I hope you think getting this waste of space a job here is worth it. Absolutely worst hire at the worst time by no other than the worst owner in the history of the NBA.

Did you know that Al Jefferson averaged more blocks per game than Kendrick Perkins, Omar Asik, Al Horford, Emeka Okafor, DeMarcus Cousins & Gerg Monroe?

I'm surprised, even without Calderon or Bargnani anymore, Raptors fans can still make terrible trade ideas that include Charlotte. Bravo.

Which is why you TRADE for players on existing contracts rather than sign free agents.

We just signed means to do it.

Blocks mean very little in terms of actual defense efficiency. If Jefferson had Asik's defense he would be the best center in the league.

Did you also know that Al Jefferson had more double doubles last year than Joakiim Noah, DeMarcus Cousins, Omar Asik, Nikola Pekovic, Roy Hibbert, Tyson Chandler, Kevin Garnett, Marc Gasol, Chris Bosh & Brook Lopez?

Give up assets for players on existing contracts as opposed to keeping your assets and overpaying a little bit? We may have overpaid, but it wasn't by a significant margin.

Hey we can always repeat the Tyrus thing, tying our hands and then overpaying by lack of choice.

OKC never tanked. Shame on Jordan for getting a player who can help the team.

The Bobcats won 7 games and still couldn't get Anthony Davis.

The Wizards had the 8th worst record in the league and leaped the Bobcats this year to get into the top-3.

I'm going to laugh my ass off when we have the 9th worst record and win the lottery.

I hope this means we trade him at the trade deadline after he puts up a career best in stats, get a '14 pick from a playoff team, like Dallas, then TANK like mad in the second half of the season. if this is Chos plan hes a genius

You're being way too nearsighted. When you're doing a rebuild you always have to look ahead at the next draft and make decisions accordingly. If we weren't the Bobcats you could maybe bank off grabbing a good FA but unfortunately without overpaying, no one would come here. Al Jefferson will never be worth not having a 1st round pick next year.
