Yeah I heard that to,the 20 minute restriction I dont really want to believe it thow..kNicksGmen wrote:method wrote:Either why Im fine with it..I would just think that if that was to happen there might be dis harmony in the locker room....special if Amare is healthy and read to go.You could hear the rumbling starting already towards the end of the season with Amare comments....kNicksGmen wrote:i think bargs will start, but he'll be the first guy to the bench for JR or amare.
from what i understand amare will be on a 20 minute limit the entire season and sit out the 2nd game of back to backs... so i don't think we'll start a guy that can only play 20 minutes.
i agree with you though. i could see JR being upset about bargs getting to start over him... but maybe woody will pitch the idea to him about winning 6th man of the year again.
i think bargs is a better fit offensively between melo and chandler than amare is. i think amare will do very well in the same role he had last year, coming in and punishing teams' benches.
And with JR we dont know if he was promised a starting gig for re-signing and if we did there is no way you start Bargs and JR.
And yeah without a doubt Bargs is a better fit in the starting lineup over Amare...
Bottom line Woody needs to make it work,he def has his job cut out for him.

if JR starts it will be felton, jr, shump, melo and tyson. i don't think that rotation works as well because it leaves both stat and bargs on the bench without a real wing scoring option. and i think we should avoid playing stat and bargs together if possible. i think the ideal rotation is something like this:method wrote:Yeah I heard that to,the 20 minute restriction I dont really want to believe it thow..kNicksGmen wrote:method wrote:Either why Im fine with it..I would just think that if that was to happen there might be dis harmony in the locker room....special if Amare is healthy and read to go.You could hear the rumbling starting already towards the end of the season with Amare comments....

felton / pablo
shump / jr
melo / (barnes, delfino or whoever we pick up)
bargs / stat
tyson / (brand, kmart or whoever we pick up
this way we have pretty balanced scoring in both the starting lineup and the bench. i left out hardaway and leslie because i'm not sure what their roles will be yet.

Re: BREAKING **** NEWS: Deal #done Knicks acquire Bargnani
He is mismatch hell for other teams and with Melo it's going to be that much more dificult. You can't place a big on him because he's too quick for them, you can't put a smaller player on him because he's too strong. I could see us having one of the top offenses this season and being mediocre on D with just Chandler and Shump as our defenders. Barg is good in the paint but if he has to defend someone out of the key then we'll be in trouble. This move is exactly what we needed against the Pacers.

I like the Bargs lineup better without a doubt..it means alot less small ball which Im fine with...Damn if we get Brand and Barnes our 2nd unit gonna be nasty..kNicksGmen wrote:if JR starts it will be felton, jr, shump, melo and tyson. i don't think that rotation works as well because it leaves both stat and bargs on the bench without a real wing scoring option. and i think we should avoid playing stat and bargs together if possible. i think the ideal rotation is something like this:method wrote:Yeah I heard that to,the 20 minute restriction I dont really want to believe it thow..kNicksGmen wrote:from what i understand amare will be on a 20 minute limit the entire season and sit out the 2nd game of back to backs... so i don't think we'll start a guy that can only play 20 minutes.

The enlarged is what we were last year, and tables turn in the playoffs.

We can still be good defensively...we will just have to focus on great team defense...Bargs is going to step it up a bit and even if it's just a little. The increase will be noticed on this team...

What are you excited about in particular? Bargs missing jumpshots? Not boxing out for rebounds? Or having no idea where to go on defense?malik959 wrote:I'm getting excited, if he can play like this:

His skillset kind of reminds me of Melo's quite a bit. I really think he has an opportunity to learn alot from him, hopefully Melo takes him under his wing like he did with Blake Griffin in the Olympics. It would be dope if he could show him that Dirk-kick shot.

Hope Woodson takes him under his wing. He taught Cope and Amare how to get into defensive stance, and JR how to pull up his pants.

For a big man he moves very well without the ball, has excellent foot work, and is very quick for a man his size. Having Barg, Shump, Felton, and Melo in a lineup together dares teams to try to double team cause they'll get burned every time. Similar to doubling on Lebron, if you double him it leaves Wade, Bosh, or anyone that can hit a 3 wide open. Barg doesn't block the paint like Chandler and Amare. He reminds me of KVH (Keith van Horn for u kids out there) but with a supporting cast. Remember, when KVH came here people expected miracles. KVH was a scorer but could not defend the PF cause he was too weak and could not defend SF because he did not have the quickness. Barg can actually guard the paint with his lenth and footwork, but cant defend out to the 3pt (not to many big men can). Barg actually has the quickness but he needs to be held accountable for his efforts (which with a winning team I don't see a problem). KVH was a favorite when he was hitting and avg. 16 pts per game, but didn't have the supporting cast (Marbury, 32Yo H20, Penny), Barg now has a supporting cast, something he did not have in Toronto.

Re: BREAKING **** NEWS: Deal #done Knicks acquire Bargnani
Maybe he can develop into a poor man's Pau type role with the Knicks. He's not as good on the boards or shot blocking but offensively he brings Pau-like skills. Barg can pass, he pump fakes with stop and pops or drives to the basket and he can post up a bit, too, so he's versatile offensively, he's not just a one dimensional spot up shooter. He does contest shots and he can man on defend so maybe Woodson can teach him the team D concept better than he's played before and not be a liability there. Rebounding might be a problem we have to learn to accept from him though, that often can't be taught.
The biggest problem with the Knicks offense in the playoffs last year other than the cold shooting of JR was that there wasn't any one to pull the opponent defense away from the basket so Melo had to shoot over 2 and 3 guys in the paint all the time. Tyson and Martin were great defensively and rebounding but their man didn't have to respect them outside of the paint at all. Barg helps with this and if the Knicks can get Brand, too, they will have made a huge stride to taking that away from defenses next season.

Well being a raptors fan since he got drafted. Seeing the way he got treated, after having terrible coaches, supporting casts, making him play out of position for the first four years in league, and playing for a GM that always swung for the fences and missed. I think it will be refreshing seeing him on a team with better players that I feel he will be a perfect fit with. I may even have to swap teams as I don't live in T.O anyway.... <.<
I am excited to see him play for the Nicks.

Honestly I think the Raptors ruined his development by trying to make him a C and making him add weight. I think he plays better when he's slimmer. Still don't want this trade to happen.
